@ cbreezeu.. I agree with your passion and your points are well taken. But don't bash me for it. If the partners are at odds with the leadership now then let them deal with it. The Kings program is runned by good people. And my son has been a part of that program mind you. The Victors have done a lot for these children and have taken on a huge responsibility. And I say the same about Brew and the rest if these people.
RBI program was started with the HBGC and has morphed into something else. You may want take that up with Wayne Yamauchi. But I'll speak for the RBI girls team...They're basically trying to finance their own cause And, and with the help of UH Hilo have been given an opportunity to practice at a top facility here in the eastside.
If you're implying that special attention is being given to RBI and the Warriors orgs....then bring up to the proper admin people.
Let's see how this game turns out first. Lets see hiw the HBGC benefits from this. Then if it doesn't work out you can continue with your tirade. If it turns out positive I say good for everyone.
lastly, HBGC has had it share of bad management, funding and support. I hope that Mr Silva serves its membership well and proves to a few of his detractors that he's the right person for our kamalili.
( i'm independant and have no memebership with Warriors or RBI.)

I know I'm coming off pretty harsh but it upsets me to see a non-profit who has faught to win back the trust of it's community to be manipulated and used in such a way and not benefit from this all star event. They are not even recognized properly in the Baseball RBI league. Yes, Nobu Yamauchi was the founder but it's a BGCBI program. It has it's own separate board which shouldn't be. Sad, very sad. If the head of the Boys & Girls Club RBI League saw the rosters of these teams they would flip and it would maybe even shut the league down. A certain % of players need to be below a certain income bracket. When politics get in the way the kids loose! My family has been a big part of the Boys & Girls club in the mainland that's why I know how it SHOULD be.

Let them bask in this triumphant time Tamba....it's all good bro! It's not gonna make the situation any better to bash on these kids...yes, kids will be kids..they make mistakes, we just gotta hope they get the guidance they need and learn from there "bad choices" (if its true)

Not going to comment on the player John Byrd. Fact or Non-Factual...It was briefly mentioned in the blogs but, I have no personal knowledge.

NICK FISHER ~ ~
But it is true regarding Nick Fisher~ It was confirmed by one of the coaches / teachers during the season that he is actually 16 and supposedly should be in 11th grade (Junior). His Sr. year might be eventful (to say the least) regarding his eligibility. He was held back 2 years (on separate occasions) during his academic journey.

I must say, he (Nick Fisher) is very developed (body, facial hair, etc)...he obviously looks much older then a 9th grader. (Such is that)

@OldG...building membeship is an excuse. Gym time is a stretch, there is an exsisting "lagitimate" BB program within Boys & Girls Club. Why are they not included or revived or consisdered as needing help with that program. In other words, why bring in the Warrior Association to be umbrellaed under BGCBI? They (Hoops Dreams) need BGCBI programs to meet their grant requirement and using BGCBI programs as a tool to achieve that. P&R is tired of their crap! I've been a member of the BB community long enough to NOT be blind sided. I happen to know A LOT of people who know, for a fact, that there are issues with this "partnership". Trust me, let the boat start sinking. ETHICS!! Pure ETHICS!!

@ OldG,

Yeah, I agree with you regarding;

Our BIIF officials are notorious for making too many of those "TRAVELING" calls. If its to quick, they don't see it as legal!!!! and the whistle blows!!!!

...and being that this is an All-Star game "of the best players on the Big Island, I really do hope they (whom ever the committee chooses -refs) at-least let them play and entertain the crowd.

Honestly, I don't mind they call the obvious (IE: dribble-stop-dribble) or the outrageous 3 step lay-up...but those quick moves, first steps, spins, etc, etc,...are exciting to watch and it'll keep the fans at the edge of there seats!!!!!
BTW, most of those moves "are not" traveling anyway!!!

We fans "don't want to see" the game stop every 30-45 seconds!!!!
Let them play!

All-Star games = Points / explosions / great moves and sportsmanship and fun!

If you can drink, then you can be a part of my staff. And from what I hear, you can throw them down. But my staff doesn't dress as well as yours. We might be the 2nd best dressed staff in the OIA though. I don't think they like that I make them all dress the same. I figure that if we lose, we might as well look good doing it. haha

I love that kid Keene, love his passion! You see him dance at the state tourny? Better that the Kam cheerleader! The whole Moanalua team can dance.

I like the way that Keene plays. He plays with a lot of emotion. Very quick with the ball and he shoots pretty good for a freshman. I don't know about 6'2, but he is still young so you never know. Hoop, are his parents tall? A friend of mine in school was about 5'4 as a freshman and he is 6'3" now so it can happen. He hit his growth spurt during our senior year and right after.

There will be no Zone!!!! And I have recommeneded to the east side squads to try and get off a shot in 10-15 seconds and run the break as much as possible. Set offenses will be taboo. Match-ups will be awesome.
