This site shows many of the players coming to the classic, most of those who already committed!

Correct me if I am wrong. In last years Classic, China's only loss was to Iolani. In fact, I believe that loss to Iolani is China's only loss on American soil. This years team from China is more like an allstar that is better than last years team. Last years China Team's warmups was a pretty impressive dunking exibition that drew cheers from the crowd before that game against Iolani.

I remember that. I'm getting chicken skin just thinking about it. China's entrance was first class as the Hawaii crowd, Iolani coaches and players greeted and cheered as they took to the court carrying thier countries flag. There were some big boys on China's team. China also brought gifts for many from thier home country. And you could see, hear and feel the appreciation from the crowd, coaches and players as China pleased everyone with an amazing warmup dunk session that was second to none that night and excited everyone involved. I am a witness.

Anybody, repeat Anyone who bangs on Iolani on who they play in the 1st round should be banned from this website! Name any other school in any sport that give our kids the opportunity to compete against the best players in the nation?
Hats off to Iolani for the life long memories you provide for players and fans.

If Iolani wins their first game, their next game will be against perenial national power Oakhill, assuming Oakhill beats Mid-Pac in their opening round game. It's their tournament. They can do whatever they want to!

Iolani can schedule anyone they want to in the first round...matter of fact, every tournament's host team will do that. Why in the world would you want to subject your team to possibly playing in the 9am game the next day?

Anyway, backpick is right. The Iolani Classic, with the help of Nike, is THE PREMIERE preseason tournament in the nation. EKAHI! Numero Uno! Oakhill, DeMatha, Montrose Christian, Fairfax and the list goes on!!!

Hey PrincessVictoria (all two posts of you), back off and have fun at the Punahou Tournamanet when you're watching Radford play Thompson Acadamy. That will leave more open seats for the appreciative fans of the Iolani Classic.

Why does Punahou have a tournament the same time as the Classic? Maybe Punahou Pride could give us the asnwer to that question? It's like watching reruns of the Golden Girls when the Victoria Secret Fashion Show is on.

...great analogy, backpick. I asked the coaches at Punahou about moving the Punahou Holiday tournament to the same week as the Iolani Classic and the reply was, "...we wanted to have a tournament that rivals the Iolani Classic."

I did not have a response. At all.

To be honest, I very much enjoyed attending Punahou's tournaments...but I won't be attending anymore for obvious reasons.

okay...but id hate to be mckinley
going into a tournament as big as this one and they wont even play one of the elite teams.
totally defeats the purpose of playing in it.

Hey backpick, isn't it quite ironic that ever since Coach Tacon was not retained at Punahou, Iolani has not offered an invite to Punahou.

So instead of watching the Iolani Classic from the sidelines, they chose to be proactive and create their own tournament.

If I recall correctly, the last two Punahou coaches, Tacon & Lum, were regulars at the Iolani Classic.

I think this is Coach Hale's 3rd year at Punahou and they have not been in the Classic yet.

There definitely is an underlying story behind this. We can only speculate, but it does look personal.
