In my opinion, I think Berinobis and Carvalho (if he plays) has a chance as well on that list. I say that because as big men, they can rebound, shoot, take guys off the dribble for their size. Don't get me wrong, I love your picks, but I just figured to add these guys under those east candidates as well.

I think we debated this already but, OK. Carvalho has a chance to be POY as well as the others, if he plays, and if he can jell with the others. The addition of Carvalho will mean Kamehameha will have a huge rebounding edge over the east teams with the exception of Fairman and company at St Josephs.

Will Jayce pass the ball from the post? Will he receive passes into the post? Can Jayce and Cabatu play cohesively inside? This team, as with Hilo and Waiakea have enormous question marks as to chemistry and roles of each individual player.

Who will give the most to get the most (BIIF Title and more) may be determined by the roles of each player. No win, no Title, no POY!

POY is over rated. It's who can score OFF the court that really matters!

But if I were to cheer for a POY, I would like to see Lanaki Apele, Thomas Fairman, and Sebi Ohara-Saft to do well, as they are all raiders4lyfe!

Carvolho is garentee playing. If his attitude and manner on and off the court is good then Kamehameha is going to be very tuff to beat. Does carvolho have the ability to be POY yes...But the question is, if Kam wins the BIIF, will he beat out Apele for POY or any other of his teamates?
And i think that Handy should be POY even if they have a hard year or years to come. Handy is the most hardworking kid on the island and when it comes to on the court hardwork, he probably works the hardest in the state!

Good point KaBOOM but there are others who work as hard as Handy and Richie will say this as well. Richie has states to various coaches about how hard it has been to work against Lanaki, Shaun and others and that is why he SHOULD be POY. Humble, tenacious, hustle, quiet leader, gives up the ball, did I say humble? Randy Apele stated that if Richie wins the POY this season, it would be a great end to a great career.

For all the voters out there, Handy is a candidate for POY no matter what happens at Keaau in regards to wins and losses. No one wanted this kid who wouldn't let go of his dad when he was 5 or 6 years of age and when he emerged, everyone concluded that Randy recruited him for wins at his Warrior program. We have proof/pictures that illustrate otherwise.

This the most interesting to me and will create a rise amongst the Warrior haters; POY possible candidates are:

    (NOT IN ANY ORDER)

    1) Lanaki Apele
    2) Isaac Janado
    3) Richard Handy
    4) Will Scanlan-L
    5) Kainoa Kawaha
    6) Jayce Carvalho

    a) Scotty Wong
    b) Berinobis

There are others but the first 6 all played for the Warriors under Randy. You can add Shaun Kagawa in 2013 to make a possible 7 players. Jayce, who was not recruited, played a year or two. He asked to play to get familiar with Kamehameha's offensive plays.

The last two did not play for Randy but are equally gifted POY candidates.

Imagine if all the Warriors kids managed to stay together....state champs, very sure of it. Maybe through in Saft and Fairman as well. What do you think?

Lucky for the rest of the BIIF! Will was at Kamehameha but left for St Josephs. Kawaha is Hawaiian but chose to stay at Hilo. They tried to infuse Hawaiian Blood into Janado and Handy but it did not work.

This team won everything from WYBT to the NJB Nationals. They lost to the Sharks and also defeated them as well. The team that was the Warrior Blue, which many refused to play against (I know because we got to play in their place) and were denied access to tournaments at their age appropriate level could very well have played for and taken state basketball titles.

Will, Sebi and Thomas will right the ship and contend for another D2 title.

I don't know what I'm more impressed with. Randy Apele and Kalani Silva's success they've had with the Hawaii Warriors Program, or their ability to order items not on the menu and for all the respect they command when they walk into eating establishments on the Big Island!

When we walked into the buffet at the Mainstreet Station in Vegas last month, I heard the Manager quote and ESPN line when some of their employees were looking at the large mound on Randy's plate:

"We can't stop him...we can only hope to contain him!!!"

    Epic!
