Saw Tanabe play in the 1980s. Even in pickup games against UH guys 6'8, 6'9 he would score on them. He had a knack that cannot be measured. No knock against Yuta. Alan was just insanely good. That teardrop shot. Rarely missed. I saw that shot go over my head a time or two. No can stop him. He takes what the D gives him. Okay enough from me.

Bill O'Rear born 1955 says that Bill couldn't do what Alan Tanabe born 1956 did in lighting up the scoreboard vs. #1 nationally ranked UNLV [several later NBA stars] 1976 [our Nation's 200th anniversary] because Alan's warrior mentality avowed, "Follow me, team, as I dismantle these prima donna All-Americans!!" Bill is more team-oriented & would have his teammates involved in the play action. Aloha, --Curt

Alan Tanabe was a one-man band when his team was hapless in overcoming the foe, as you saw with Alan's phenomenal effort vs. #1 ranked UNLV in 1976. Bill O'Rear doesn't have this Maravich/Chamberlain do or die singular mentality. Bill is team-oriented like his prodigy Derrick Low. Aloha, --Curt

Alan Tanabe had an insatiable appetite to win decisively, not just win. Which shows in his one-upmanship over UNLV 1976. Aloha, --Curt

Lenny Kai was among our top players. His dad was a fine athlete from St. Joseph High in Hilo. Aloha, --Curt

Alan Tanabe had a sixth sense as floor leader, & like Pistol Pete Maravich, Alan grew up suckling a basketball, inseparable were hoops & Alan. Aloha, --Curt

Alan Tanabe is among the greatest guards from the Hawaiian Islands, high school and college, and would match up well vs. Yuta Tabuse, Japan's only NBAer.

Alan Tanabe's greatest asset was his sense of anticipation, of seeing the play before it happened.

Curt, does the Fuzz monitor your computer usage?

Curt's greatest asset is to cash the check before the client realizes he's ripping them off.

LOL!

Alan Tanabe's 6th sense of visualizing the play before it happens gave Alan the first step ahead of the opponent.
