It was a close score (48-44) with Keaau winning. Does anyone know any of the details and how things went. Who played good for both teams? Thanks.

Very good game the entire way...back and forth till the very end.
Both teams came out strong and composed. I think Kamehameha led after the first quarter by 6 or 7 points...then Keaau went on a small run in the 2nd quarter, taking the lead at 19-18, Kamehameha had a tough shooting 2nd quarter (seems like there was a lid on the basket)-scoring only 3 points, till Lanaki Apele scored on a 12" jumper at the halftime buzzer to give the Warriors slim 20-19 advantage.
The 3rd and 4th quarters see-sawd back and forth till about 2 minutes in the game, Kamehameha went on a dry spell (with jumpers falling short), Richie Handy made some clutch shots (mostly in the 2nd half) and sealed the 4 point win for the Cougers.
Good game to watch and the refs were on there "A" game for most of the contest, pretty smooth considering Barry, Wes and Jose were the 3 Amigo's in action!
Stats: Keaau
Jr. Richie handy - 19 Points / 4 rebounds (outstanding offensive moves thoughout the game-drop steps, reverse pivots and up-n-unders)
Sr. Daniel Brooks - 17 points /5 rebounds (someone said it was a career high in pts.)
Sr. Haku Ishibashi - didn't reach double figures but made some clutch floaters and jumpers down the stretch as well as a few nice long passes to the big man (brooks) underneath)
Sr. Makana Cazimero - didn't get much looks or opportunities.
Coach Ishibashi did well on his adjustments (defense and offense)

Kamehameha
Jr. Jayce Carvalho - 13 Points - 7/7 FT / 16 Rebounds / 2 assist
So. Lanaki Apele - 11 Points / 3 Rebounds / 4 assist
As a team, the Warriors played very hard till the end and never gave up.
Colby Cabatu played tough on a limited bases scoring 8pts / 2 rebs.
Jayce Carvalho cleaned the glass (rebounded) well, and scored when the opportunity presented itself (spin moves and hard drives), while Lanaki Apele Controled the tempo of the game & distributed the ball well. Both teams played under control with that competitive spirit thoughout the contest, but they (Cougers) pulled it out in the end...great win!
Kamehameha eliminated from playoffs (with the Hilo win today over Ka'u), but I think they should continue to build on momentum going into next year with the core or most players returning!Posted 6 months ago # -
...great summary Luna86.. thanks buddy... I agree with you about Kam school building on the momentum going into next year by "staying together" as a core, rather than breaking up during the summer to play in the usual youth leagues..
...i notice some of these boys like Handy, etc.. playing with the Kam boys during the youth leagues, while the St. Joe boys all sticked together!!.. i think their summeer league coach, who will probably be apele's dad (Randal?) gotta just stick with the Kam school boys and make them bond and connect rather than bringing in other boys just to get the NJB win.. work those kam boys, enter them is as much tournaments as can, put them on the weights, run that system and get them making adjustments themselves as needed, and keep them together--one team, one dream, kind of thing..no?..
...just a thought...
