I would have to say waiakea. So far this regular season and I think even pre-season they are undefeated and beating teams by huge numbers. They have some future talented players and some tall ones too.

It will be interesting to see what waiakea's future hold because the returney's they will most times have will be Janado, Ita, Sanehira & Libao and whatever moves up from the JV and in now days of time whatever transfer's have that will be an addition for them. I think they will have a good future.

Good point mojo. I have not seen a JV game this year but I heard that the KS-Kea'au 8th grade kids are decent.

Waiakea is good, but with that coaching staff... idk, I hear a lot of Kam's 8th grade

half of kams varsity belongs in JV so I dont know if that counts.

Don't like Waiakea/Hilo because the coaches run up the score on jv teams.. They also press all 4 quarters, even when up 30+

....Player23, yes half of kams varsity belongs to JV but if they'd all play JV, they wouldn't have a varsity sooo it's not like they have a choice... Kam should have done what st. joe did and not have a JV this year cause next year they'll have to cut 80% of the JV team cause Kam's 8th grade boys smoking them by 30 at "in house" scrimmages...

    ..just a thought..

...yes.. i heard that kam's 8th grade class is supa impressive plus i also heard that they might get the best of waiakea's 8th grade transferring over in jodd carter if he can get pass admissions.. and basketball is not even's jodd's favorite sport-- the boy is a prodigy baseball player.. already getting offers by some colleges.. unreal kam's future... if they all end up staying????

    ..just a thought...

not too sure if Waiakea is running the same "system" for their middle school ballers but they have some good players moving to high school next year.

not too sold on KS tho, they haven't been a dominating team. mite just b their age or maybe coaching but they cant seem to close out games like the 1 against stingrays in the HI PAL Winter Classic.

dont 4get about the Kings team. im pretty sure most of their players will be going to Hilo next year. audi is going 2 b a good pg. just my humble opinion.

Considering that Kona has 75% of their Jv players playing varsity, they've run the table on the West side with what's left. Kealakehe Jv also looked very strong early in the season...probably the biggest (height) team on the island, including varsity. Just some insight on the west.

bigisle, thanks for to info on the west side. i seen kealakehe play in the KS jv pre-season tourny and they were big (height) but i heard that a couple of the players got moved to varsity.

All of you post based on emotions. The best JV team
on the Big Island is the KS-Kea'au team. The KS 10th graders play on the the varsity because the upper classmen are useless. I would take the sophomores from KS and Sean Kagawa with Coach Randy against the rest of the league.

I played hoops at Panaewa and Malama Pk on the 10 ft rims and the 8 ft rims against "ISH" and the rest of the boys but I never heard of the Mighty Warriors.

@ leftover were talking "jv" yes i agree that the KS 10th graders are good but they're all playing varsity.

who are the Panaewa Mighty Warriors? are they any good?

and yes we should care about and blog about jv basketball. 1st it's basketball. 2nd these kids are gonna be playing varsity soon and we'll be talking and blogging about them anyways.

They had the best mighty mite team in Hilo, which means nothing. Their pee wee team did not make the playoffs and their midget team did not win a game.

This is the norm form P-Town. By the time the kids are of age they are "burning" or in jail.

They are awesome!!! Some of the greatest potlucks I have ever seen, ribs, jambalaya, smoked meat, quarter-hind beef, boy that's a winna!!!

@HF~ I think it's the Panaewa Ali'i. And thanks for the good pub on the potlucks..

@Leftover~ It is not the norm for Panaewa. We never referred to it as P-Town back in the day. Please do not give the wrong impression about our kamali'i. I am proud to be from this community. And mind you I was raised with a lot of good people who utilized the playground to play hoops. You want names: Samson Kela, Ola Tripp, Brian Kelson, Gerrod Kalani, Mana Silva and much more. We welcome all people to use our facilities. Like any place else, there's a few unfortunate kids who do not make the right decisions. Some turn out good some not so good.

Let's blog about hoops and the quality that comes from it. Mahalo

OldG, you are correct. My cousins coach them. One is a former Nebraska lineman, now a prison guard on the Big Island.

I agree with you OldG, there are many wonderful people from that area!
