@ OldG
Thanks for that highlight for Frank and Ham! Two great guys who gave their lives for kids and Frank was one of my mentors when I had the priviledge to coach with him at Waiakea. The guys coaching the all-star games are not bad as well following the format of "For the kids" so you can't go wrong in this type of event.
The players who are able to attend (some play volleyball and baseball) will have the honor of playing a game that may become a cornerstone to the BIIF post season. These are the current and future leaders of the basketball community and from what I saw at practice on Tusday night, they all were friendly and were having a great time. Everyone should see the games, boys and girls.
To BGC, I apologize for not being able to make this because I will be on Kauai but I aplaud the BGC, Kalani Silva, Bruce Ferreira and staff. I aplaud all the player participants and their coaches who are giving up their personal time and some coming all the way from Kona to support this fun event. Thanks goes out to the Refs (yes, they are people too) for their efforts and the score keepers, ticket booth personnel and everyone doing their respective jobs well so the fans can enjoy the evenings. I cannot aplaud the Warrior program as an entity because...well...they have nothing to do with this game!!!
Enjoy everyone because these games may well be the start of something that brings the community together rather than bleeding Blue, Red, Green, Black or any other school colors. I'd rather hear stuff like "Apele lobs to Faiman for a dunk" or Libao dishes to Shintani for three" and other great combinations the BIIF players can do.
Have Fun!
