Wow, great stuff Brew. This is a great idea for the kids.

However, do you think there will be trouble filling up the civic for a high school all star game?

Hopefully we can hype the game enough that we get a fair share of people at the Civic. With all the good that has been happening this year, we hope that the interest for Big Island Basketball continues for the all star game. Also with the help of people like you and other basketball junkies spreading the word we hope we can draw the interest of many people.

If this year goes good we hope the other islands jump on board, so they can feature their all stars.

The television publicity should be a huge boost for the event.

The players will look very professional with Nike type uniforms and shooting shirts. Coaches will be of high quality, picked by our committee. And games will be very organized.

Thanks for your input, any opinion and advice we get will help us make it a successful game.

Yeah, Wow...that was pretty quick work there Brew!

I'm assuming the West & East coaches / schools already are aware of this arrangement? Or is it not a school sanctioned event? Either way, its a great idea AND arrangement.

Refs too? do we really need um'...nah, just j/k. (I'll leave it up to the experts to decide the teams but, I think the officiating needs to be carefully hand picked so the fans can totally enjoy a great game of the best the BI can offer in 2010).

    Consession - Hoop Dreams? PGU?

    Good work!

@Hawn we have selected a committee of 6 who will pick the teams. Both East and West will have representatives. I'm not able to disclose who is on the committee, but I will tell you that it is knowlegable sports guys who have kept an eye on players and have watched many games and will continue to watch the games throughout the year. Picks will be based on the greatest number of votes.

@Lun86 the players will not be notified until the they have played their BIIF tournament games, because we don't want to have any distractions for the teams and their coaches.

And as I said before, if you folks can give me who you believe are the top players, I'm sure some of the committee members will take your picks into consideration. The committee members can't be at all the games, so its the spectators and fans who can help them out.

That's a pretty good list for the boys but I'm pretty sure Scanlan-Leite is a Junior...

Oh for the east 9-10th what is the guard from Waiakea's name?? He used to come off the bench but now he starts...I think he's a freshman or sophmore...he's pretty good too...

I'd also probably add Makana Cazimero to the 11-12th east team...Probably Richie Handy too....I would move Scanlan-Leite into there also...

Man i feel so isolated this year...lol...I can't even name any 9-10th graders from the west to help you out..Hell i can barely name any 11th or 12th graders for that matter...lol....This is probably the one year I wish everyone played everyone...I really want to see how the west stacks up against the east..I really think the top team in the West would be like 4th or 5th in the East right now...But we'll never know...lol...

That's right...Damn i thought he was a sophomore or freshmen....He's a really good PG...doesn't turn the ball over and hits the open man...Don't think he should make the team though...

Yeah your right about being isolated. I kind of feel the same way, only seeing a few teams during preseason. I don't know too much about the West side, only what I read in the papers and the forum. Need help folks! It now feels like two totally seperate leagues.

    Thanks

@Shaka6 Ontiveros is a good pick. Forgot his name. Nick Fisher also a good pick. I'm on the fence between Dakota and Clayton. Also, if Issack Janado continues to play well, he will be considered.

@BIIFFan nick and Shaun top ten garens ballbarens.

I never saw Byrd play how is he?

I would rather have cabato or moronte than dakota

I forgot about Fisher...from what i've seen of him he may be Pahoa's best player right now...i know everyone is probably going to disagree but it could be since Isaiah and Bryd get so much attention he gets more open looks, but he's also very tough defensively....

@ Brew...I'm the same way with Dakota and Clayton...Dakota is the more talented but Clayton seems to be getting the job done...Really hard to put one in and not the other but I don't think you can put either over Carvalho right now...

Also as much as i think Janado is a really good player, from what i've seen he hasn't played that good...I don't know if i'm biased from seeing him play on other teams and open gyms and such but he just doesn't seem to fit good into Waiakea's system..IMO, he's skilled enough to be All BIIF easily but he just doesn't seem to get enough good looks and opportunities...

100% Agree with you. I would rather go with Morante or Cabatu then Allen.

This is why we play the game!! There is a lot of season left for both sides to prove there worth to their teams. I would not be disappointed if either of the two you mentioned beat out Dakota because they are both solid players.

I have to disagree with you about Janado. He was like that during the pre-season, But since the BIIF season started that boy totally changed opposite. He has been one of the key players for waiakea and only gotten better. I think waiakea has been waiting for when is Janado comming out to play? And he did since the 1st BIIF season game and still remains. But that is just my opinion.

I would rather put in Ishibashi based on his talent, then Janado from what they did this year..

@Shaka6, I'm glad he's doing well...He really deserves to...I seen the Hilo game on the Rosie show and their game against St. Joe's last night and he didn't do so well...but as i said earlier i may be biased and expecting too much of him...lol..Yeah now that i think of it he did play well but i guess i expect him to really stand out and take over at times...

Maybe Ishibashi, But I would still go with Janado. They both still have a way left in this season to prove themselfs.
