Can't help but look forward to the BIIF Division 2 playoffs next week. The capsule looks like this in popularity order:

    1. St Joe: Cards have gone through a rigorous schedule in the East. Have they become battle tested or exhausted? St Joe's looked great at the beginning of the season, partially because their season started well before other teams (summer). Can they withstand more pressure from here on out? No room for off night losses anymore.

    2. Kohala: Cowboys are peaking at the right time. They ran the table in the West with blowout and close wins. I think they get a tough draw in the semi's with Pahoa, but thier press can definitely play into Pahoa's weakness in guard play.

    3. Pahoa: Daggers upset teams early in the schedule, then seemed to lose steam as the season progressed. Thier big question is depth at the guard position as they enter the playoff atmosphere. Ekau and Byrd need to step up and guide their team, there's no other choice.

    4. HPA: Don't be surprised if the Kamakani end up in the title game. They are the darkhorse, and many teams haven't seen them play. They are a solid team with the transfers and can give any team a really bad matchup problem (espeically looking forward to a possiblity with St Joe).

I got the Cards taking D2 and easily...And i'm almost positive that Pahoa is going to upset Kohala....

Not taking away from Kohala, because they are a really good team and Bautista is an animal, but I just don't see Kohala's press causing Pahoa or St. Joe's as much problems as it did against the west..I also don't think the match ups are in favor of the Cowboys...

Pahoa has a huge edge on the boards..They should crash them on every shot...Pahoa's weakness is going to be their guards...But so far Byrd has been pretty good at relieving some of the pressure from the guards and Ekau is a really good target to hit on a pressbreak..And Pahoa's 1-3-1 defense is really stingy and should help slow Bautista down...

HPA seems to be improving but they are still too reliant on their 2 transfers...You basically only have to contain those two and make the other 3 players win the game for them...

biddy...lol...can tell you coach for St. joe KYLE? lol

Easily??? thats a big word!!! Who on the east has a press like Kohala? Anyone? How bout you put you money where your mouth is....and since you used the word easily whats the spread?

HPA can beat you guys(Stjoe) "easily" if they use the tools they have, if not then it should be "easy" for them to get thru.

Pahoa upset Kohala??? WOW!!! Dont get me wrong I love Isiah and think he is a freak on the basketball court and volleyball court....but like I said one player cant beat Kohala.

Plus everyone wants to put the shit talking away, with a final KOHALA vs ST. JOE.....That game will bring more of a crowd then the D1 game.

    D1 Champs....
I think it will be between the Hilo and Honokaa Game.....

    D2 Champs....

    KOHALA...not "easily" LOL...will be a great battle

BUT GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS AND PLAYERS

PS.....REFS PLEASE CALL SOME FAIR GAMES BOTH WAYS!!! I KNOW YOU CANT SEE EVERYTHING, BUT DONT BE BLIND TO SCHOOL COLORS!!!

@808Hui, first off I'm not Kyle...second, I said easily, but i didn't mean it to be disrespectful..It is just my honest opinion..

I just honestly feel that nobody matches up with St. Joe's well on the D2 level...And no disrespect to Kohala but their press isn't as strong as the last few years and they don't have as many scoring threats as years past.....

Also I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kohala ends up blowing Pahoa out of the gym...Kohala has an excellent team, but Pahoa has been playing awesome this year and they have a huge height advantage on Kohala...Also Pahoa has a few other players who have stepped up pretty big the past few weeks...You're assuming a lot about them...Have you seen them play lately?

For you to say that HPA can beat St. Joe's easily is way less likely to happen than St. Joe's winning BIIFs easily...I've seen HPA play and they are pretty good but I would pick Pahoa and St. Joe's over them pretty easily...They have their one exchange student that plays guard, their center and #20 who is an outside threat....other than that they really don't have anyone else that is a threat..

Again i'm not trying to start anything, just stating my opinion...

Opinion can be made...but using words like "easily" makes it seem like your too good to share the court with the Cowboys??? LOL you dont have to respond....just respect all teams....

PS you can still put your money where your mouth is...lol

I think you're just taking it way too personal and inferring too much out of what i said...

Kohala is an excellent team but if you objectively look at both teams St. Joe's has the obvious advantage and should win...That's all i'm saying...

I think the big difference between the East and West is the basketball IQ...I've watched at least 6 West games and while they have talent they lack bball iq...I swear they have as many turnovers in one game as most east teams have in 3....And most of them are just mental errors/unforced turnovers....

@BIIFViking, I doubt I'll be there...I'm really disappointed at the talent level of girls basketball nowadays....Seems like it's regressed from the 90's and early 2000's....Maybe I'll go though...

@bibbyboi, I think there were pretty good players in the 90's and early 2000's, but I think there are much more girls playing college basketball at a higher level now then their was before. I think there are a more abundant amount of talented player nowadays then their were before. Kona is the state champions, so to say that our talent level is below the 90's and the 2000's is kind of strange. They may win a bunch of championships when its all said and done. We may get 3 players on the all state team this year, that is pretty good talent in my opinion. Just my thoughts!!!

@brew, i meant girls basketball as a whole...Even girls college ball is not as good as before...I honestly think that Waiakea's girls teams from mid 90's-mid 2000's would beat Kona's current team pretty easily...Especially the team with Mary Pedro, Edie Azevedo, Mona Amesone, Jolyn(can't remember her last name) and Casey Remmers..All of those girls were much more talented and athletic than Kona's current lineup. well maybe not Remmers but she was a pretty good center..and tall as hell too....Funny thing is that there were other teams that were just as stacked or even more stacked throughout the state...

Maybe I'm wrong but it just seems like girls bball world wide has gotten worse...

Its Brandon Bautista's senior year and he will not let his team lose his last year they have won 3 straight and he is two time POY he will will carry his team and Kohala will beat st.joes they are very talented tho with andrade, fairman, and saft. Kohala's 2nd undefeated regular season and they seem to get better towards season end

@Tamba why are you taking it so personal...Yes maybe the west can run on the east but from the games i've watched each team averages around 20 turnovers(more like 25) a game..A few of those games were of Kealakehe...If they can keep the turnovers down then they have a chance...If not they don't..Simple as that..

and yeah i have a lot of time in between classes and work so i end up surfing the net a lot...lol...nothing else to do in Hilo....

Div II: Kohala does turn the ball over a bit and they've done it in the past. But one of the biggest things about them is they BATTLE back from it. Trust me, they take risks but they're athletic enough to get back into it. What we will see is a lot of contrasts in play between all teams. I don't see Pahoa upsetting the Cowboys, I say Kohala by 6. Bautista vs. Ekau. "Figuratively"
