..i know kam prides itself on their system offense, but really every team has a "system" in their head for winning games... yet, all things aside.. up to this point, can we say that St. Joe's has the best system offense? Waiakea maybe?.. i'm still trying to figure out what Keaau runs, but whatever it is, it's working!! Up to this point, who has the best offense?

    ...just curious...

...bibbyboi, ...my observations of the games gives me that impression as well.... st. joe's system (it's the princeton offense i think) is the best right now, and i like the fact their coach is humble about it... don't need to publically announce to everybody that their system is better than everybody elses--he does it by winning games!!

    ..just a thought..

...so far there is agreement that st. joe has the most effective system.. it must be true cause if you match up player for player (say st. joe vs. kam; or st. joe vs hilo), the other teams should be winning all the time but they not... a tribute to the concept that there is no "i" in TEAM!!!

    ..just a thought..

    Great topic.

I think most systems can work. But one factor that needs to always be considered or involved (in a particular system) depends on the "PERSONNEL" Or players that you have at the time. Some coaches believe that "there" system can work 100% of the time but I beg to defer...
I don't think "every system" is bullet proof - you need talent mixed in. Good coaches can/will make appropriate adjustments to opponents systems.

I think when St. Joe's particular system is running smooth and in high gear, it's fun to watch this year! (execution). Just my opinion, but I think it's not as boring as the way Princeton runs there's.
I don't remember St. Joe's offense running this smooth in years past??? It takes hard work and talent, and they did (work hard)and have talent (this year).

I think Waiakea runs a pretty discipline system this year, along with Kamehameha. Haven't' seen Keaau enough to gave an insight.

Hey, but what do I know about "systems", I never passed the 8 grade!

Agreed. St. Joe has veteran coaches that have perfected their "system" over the years and it is definitely working for them right now. I think Waiakea is still "developing" their system under their 2nd year coach and they are definitely moving in the right direction. Coach Lee seems to want to instill hard work discipline into these young men. As I think we can all agree Mattos has benefited from this. He has shown an overall improved attitude (small setback 2 games ago). These things will help these young men in their adult lives.

Haven't watched too much of Keaau or Hilo, anyone know what type of system they run?

@Luna86, St. Joe's offense has been running this smooth for the past 3 or 4 years...the difference this year, imo, is their defense and hitting the weights in the off season...they have the athletes and the B-Ball iq this year to get up and pressure on d and trap...The past years they had athletes but they weren't as smart, basketball wise...Also Fairman has a lot to do with their defense being much more successful too...it's the first time they had an actual shot blocker/shot changer in there...and his rebounding helps a lot.....Hitting the weights also seemed to help them immensely...Before they would get "bullied" on rebounds and bringing the ball up...this year not nearly as much...But yeah, if you ask coaches around the league they'll tell you that St.Joe's offense has been running pretty smooth for the past 3 or 4 seasons...They get a lot of open 3's and back cuts to layups...

let's not refer to it as a "system" it's just different ways of moving the ball and creating opportunities to get easy baskets on "designed" plays. i think for any type of offense to be effective you have to have the personnel to run it. and yes as of now St. Joseph seems to have the personnel to be operating an efficient "system"

    @ bibbyboy,

I agree. Most of what you mentioned in your post pretty much sustains my points as well.

Hey, lol, but I wouldn't go as far as to say "they weren't as smart" in the past (basketball wise)lol...but hey, maybe i'm reading it wrong?
(I know we both mean well)

...and I agree and failed to mention that, Fairman in the middle plays a very important part of that offense.

    Basically, all N all...
Discipline work ethic during the off season and talent is the moral of it all! And they have a great combination of it,this year, thus far!

    @ Rarebreed,

Point well taken! Hilo, Keaau? System? Anyone?

    Sustain. good word.
Keaau and Hilo both mix it up good. But I don't see a "system" intact. I think if they had a feeder team(s) then maybe it resemble it. i.e. Kamehameha School. they had 2 prominent feeder programs, Gameboys- Haku, Cazimero bros, Lee etc and the Warrior BB org. - Apele, Andrade, Carvalho and Alapai(maybe)... it also benefited WHS - Janado and the Libao brothers.

Giving some input from the end of the bench....

@Luna86, i meant no disrespect by it but in the past St.Joe's shot themselves in the foot a lot..A lot of bone headed mistakes..The kind where you just shake your head like "what the hell was he thinking"..lol..Mostly because most of the players hadn't been playing organized ball for a long time like most other programs..This year is probably the first time they have players that understand the game and have played in a good system for at least a few years...

    @ bibbyboi,

Point understood and well taken! No objections your honor. The Defense rests!

May the jury find all BIIF players capable of pursuing the "truth" within there "systems."

Court adjourned! (as the judge slams his Mallet)

    Again, great topic!

...all points well taken.. i think we are talking about the concept some refer to as synergy--when everybody doing what they supposed to do in concert with everybody else, synergy results--it's kind-of like a six man if you well... i think the more these teams run their "system", feel comfortable with their role, and has a coach who can make adjustments as needed... a "system" will be evident and momentum will be in their corner..

    ..just a thought..

@bibbyboi- Luna86 was using a courtroom comedy post to agree with what you were talking about due to the fact that as shown above HAINA83 was impress with the word SUSTAIN used by Luna86

Do they have OC16 and AM radio at HCCC? Just joking ladies and gents. Keep up the good blogging!
