Manti Te'o has returned to the hardwood floor to help the struggling (4-4) Buffanblu in the post. Do you think Te'o can help revive these Puns? They certainly haven't played like defending champions thus far, but they have four games left in the regular season (Iolani, St. Louis, and Mid Pac all at home), and then the ILH tourney. Do they have what it takes or are they being counted out?

Will Manti Te'o First Team Basketball Allstate 2008 save the Punahou basketball season?

    2 questions:
    Mid season basketball condition?
    Timing and court awarness?

There can only be 1 star at Punahou, did anyone get Dalton Hillard permission to do this?

Manti's Top 3 things he'll do for sure.

    3. Bring in bigger crowds to see Punahou's son.

    2. Sell more tickets (maximum revenue).

    Drum roll please.....

    1. Make Robert Toma happy!

Round 2 coming up. St. Louis over Punahou by 8.

smarty, you sure he returned? He didn't play against the Crusaders. He was in street clothes. In fact, he was sitting in bleachers across the way!

As far as the rest of the team, Hale is sure doing a helluva job creating team chemistry!

Yes, he has returned, he played last night against Maryknoll. Buffanblu by 30

Haha they are still struggling to find a team identity it looks like to me. They played pretty well in the second half last night, but they were playing Maryknoll...we will all see if they can really make a turnaround next week when they play iolani on tuesday.

Can he help? Duhhh. He's built low to the ground, stands solid, has great hops. With him, they can open up the middle. They can rebound a bit more.

Was Shibuya even receiving playing time before Te'o rejoined the team?

    What about Casidy?

Cassiday is questionable still. Last I heard, he hasn't practiced at all since the Kamehameha game.

I don't think Te'o will start. Hilliard may not even start. I think they will keep the same lineup from the St. Louis game. Feldman, Toma, Gaddis, Johnson, Makaula.

Should be a great matchup, Teo could be the difference maker with his size inside. Puns by 3

Who's Manti Te'o in basketball? sorry but he won't be making any difference for the puns. all he'll be doing is taking up space on the bench.

I love ranking on the Puns as much as the next guy, but dude, you obviously haven't seen Manti play hoops have you? If anything you can question his basketball conditioning or how he will affect the chemstry or lack of for the Puns. But you can't challenge his talents. Started for Kahuku as a Freshmen and was a stater for the State Champs last year. The man child can hoop it up in the post, but that was in the past when he would play more often. We'll see tonight.

Manti definitely seemed like he was out of basketball shape, but it was expected. He grabbed a few boards and had a handful of points, but didn't greatly change the game tonight. Look for him to have more of an impact during the ILH tournament, when he'll be more in shape (basketball wise).

    Steve-o,
Manti was and allstate player last year and last night provided a stronger low post threat and strenght on the boards both on offense and defense. Ya, you must be a clown by listening to your rude comments.

    Basketballfan,
    Is there an ILH Tournament?

Cassidy has had surgery on this mouth/teeth. Punahou could have used him.

    PoiPounder,
I believe there is a four team tournament to decide which team gets to play an outer island team (not sure from which island, sorry) for a spot in the State Tournament. Kamehameha and Iolani have clinched state births and are therefore exempt from needing to participate in this tournament. Punahou, St.Louis, and MPI are already in the tournament. I believe Marynoll and Damien will have a playoff for the fourth spot. No one is out yet. I think Manti will have a a more significant role during this tournament, more so than he had against Iolani.

I believe the ILH #3 (winner of the Div I tournament) will play the BIIF #3 with the winner getting the last at-large berth for states.

BBallFan, I believe you are correct. Normally the last two teams play a game and are fed into the ILH #3. The ILH #4 and #5 play and the winners of those two games face one another. The winner plays off the BIIF #3. I think the game may actually be on the Big Island, I would have to check.
