I'm just curious what people think about playing D1 high school vs. playing D2 high school in terms of college recruiting. Do you think a solid D1 player would have a better chance of getting "recruited" vs. a player who fills up his stats in D2?

Yikes, I don't know where to start.
First of all, I'd like to take a big rock and pound it on the heads of each and every parent who makes their son and daughter play any one particular sport year-round in hopes of earning a college scholarship. The same rock applies to coaches in clinics and clubs who tell parents that the only way your son/daughter will earn a college scholarship is if they _____________(fill in the blank).
How many High School boys basketball players get to play college ball? Try 3%. 3 out of 100. And that's the National average; in Hawaii, I'd venture to say that we are much lower. Out of those 3%, most are given "partial" scholarships, told what classes to take and when to take them, told when and where to attend study halls, team meetings, and mandatory work outs.
Want a scholarship for college?
Bust your ass in school. I mean bust it. Study until your brain hurts-- on the weekends, late at night, when everyone else is out partying. Your ticket to a better life is your education. You have a much better chance at an academic scholarship than you do at an athletic scholarship. Plus, you can take any classes you want, study when you want, hang out all night talking shit in the dorms if you want... How hard you work with regard to your academics is entirely among your control.
When you do play basketball, play it with a passion, work as hard as you can and play against the best competition you can find.
No one cares if you play D1 or D2.
Study. Ace that stupid SAT test. Work on your GPA. Get at least two well-respected teachers to like you. Volunteer somewhere and read good books.
