    Aloha BaskatballJones,
Thanks for the BIIF prediction invite, and I'm sorry I never got to it. I did write down a few of my opinions, but I was waiting for confirmation on the Dakota Allen report. I've noticed several predictions from the BIIF, and I almost agree with them (two of them seem to have come from coaches or atleast close supporters). I do find it hard to give my honest opinions here because I don't want to come across as being negative towards the kids. I've watched enough bball on the Big Island to see the problem, COACHING (it stinks here).

Aloha BBall4ever...no worries bro, I like to get other people's opinion on basketball stuff around the 808. Although I am quite in-tuned to the Oahu basketball news, I admit that I lack the knowledge regarding basketball happenings around the big island.

Also, I believe that if a neighbor island team is going to win a state basketball title it will most likely come from the big island. With that said, I believe that it is important for everyone else to keep up with what's happening there.

Would you, or anyone else here, know who is committed to play in this year's Waiakea/St. Josephs Classic in December? I would love to start breaking down matchups, potential winners and losers as well as who to look out for in the tourney.

Any thing you post is much appreciated!

Aloha and have a great week.

My opinion: Transfer Rule it's all political and "BullS..t" money talks. Shintani his been at waiakea for past 3 years 9, 10, & 11 grades now hilo at 12 grade Why? Uum I wonder and from what I know he has lived with his grandparents then went and moved with his dad. As for Allen Kamehameha 9 & 10 grades, waiakea 11 grade & now hilo 12 grade how can that be allowed? Like I said money talks... I can't stand people that think they can buy there way with money and especially more the people that excepts it. To me it's the parents/guardians of these individuals that has alot to do with it and is only looking out for their own to make MVP of the year that came out of one parent mouth.

What do you mean money talks? Are these families giving money to the head of the BIIF or certain administrators?

So poor kids cannot transfer to other schools?

To Obiwanginobili: I agree Shintani dribbles too much, Too much of an individual player & Too much want's to be a star. But that's the way he was trained by his family members as coaches since he was in P&R League at a very young age but he will fit in perfect with hilo high style of a fast tempo game.

As for Dakota the only impact he will have on hilo is his presence for height, He is not a physical nor strong player and only plays offense to score. For him and his dad it's all about point's. He never played nor wants to play defense and if he tried his slow on his feet so 99% he will commit fouls thats his track record. He will not fit into hilo highs fast tempo game his too slow. To me the only place Dakota could be a threat is the block but all you have to do is keep him out of the block and stop him from recieving the ball and that is not hard to do.

FYI: Hilo High just recently had 2 - Scrimmages against St. Joseph and lost to St. Joseph 2 times.

Prediction BIIF D2: St. Joseph is a really
good/skilled team I predict they are going to be BIIF D2 Champions and will go to state and also has a good chance of being HHSAA D2 Champions...Go Cardinals

To Brew: Replying - Shintani was raised & lived with his grandparents. He just recently moved with his dad in the hilo district.

And yes Dakota dad rents a house lower part of Kaumana for district acceptance. If they live there I don't know someone should seriously investigate this. But you know what he did the same for his daughter her senior year when transferred from kamehameha to hilo high he rented the apartment/condo above hilo high school for district acceptance. Like I said money talks and "BullS..t" walks he will buy anything or anyone for his son fame as an MVP Player of the year.

Dude, who cares is he bought a house in the district. If someone buys a house in that district, then they are legally in that district and can go to that school.

This happens everywhere. Sometimes parents buy a house in a certain area so they can go to that school. That is smart. Regardless of the reason, academics or athletics, the person who bought the house has just as much right to go to that school as anyone else.

If they can afford that house, then power to them. Obviously they must have done something right to be able to afford a new house. If someone cannot afford doing that then maybe they should have been more serious in school.

Why so much hate for that family?

Hey dude he did'nt buy a house, FYI: He rented one just for the son to play basketball and the last I checked you also need to be living in that address you provide to the school and their not so it's not legal. If you are an Allen fan then you betta go run and tell them so they can move into their new home.

I have nothing against transfers, more power to the team that recruits players. I think transfers should be allowed & legal as long as you live in the house that you provided to the school and is in district acceptance.

No hate towards the family, I know them really well and for a long time. I'm just voicesing & giving my opinions like everyone else.

The rule is that the kid has to be living in a permanent address in the school district. If they rented a house/apartment, etc., then it is the same as buying a home. Their "legal" permanent address is in district.

So, what is the big deal? There is nothing illegal going on here.

Hey shaka6, I think you really ought to say family member not members, and his grandparents do live in the hilo district.

Yes legal permanent address on paper only with the register office, But they not physically living in that permanent address. So something illegal is going on here.

Rule states the kid must be physically living in that address in the school district with a legal parent/guardian.

all these transfers wether it's legal or not in my opinion as a parent of an athlete and as a former High school athlete myself is not the right message that we should be teaching our Keiki.... I think that if winning is that important to you or your child that you would have them switch schools for that reason is crazy......There's more to life then winning a game, we should be teaching our Keiki to get a good education, be community contributors (like Brew giving back to the Keiki and community) and that playing sports should be a privilage and not an automatic thing....90% or more of these student athletes will never play college ball and even less will play pro ball. Sorry for sounding like a teacher or a preacher hahaha...just something to think about

...true dat.. but basketball has become the identity of some of our kids.. that's what they live for.. i don't think they transfered just to win.. i think they transfered because of academic, personal, or differences with their coach.. this kids play P&R all their life and expect to live the dream of high school ball... if Naki, Sebi, Fairmen, Kawaha was being treated unfairly by their coach... i guarentee you they would leave for another school and they would have 100% support from mostly their dads..

    ..just a thought..

good points h-wide, we as parents should be role models for our children. That's how they learn to become responsible poeple. I'm not sure what the story here is but if they moved to that district and live in that district then they should attend that school and be able to play sports also. But if they're just using an address whether renting or owning and not accually living there (in the district) then that's a different story. Hopefully what ever the reasons are, it's valid and in the best intrest for the kid and there future developement in life.

Shintani and Allen would not even make the ALL BIIF TRANSFER TEAM. This would be my team
    G- SHON MALANI
    G- JASON KAUHI
    C- MITCH MILLER
    F- IKE KAMOKU
    F- TODD CARTER
Coming off the bench would be LIA GALDEIRA AND KANISHA BELLO

at 96720: I agree with your list..your reserve can be Haunani Liftee, Wesley Martinez & Kelcy Nacis Yet, Don't think Todd or Kanisha can be put on this list. Their family actually live in the Waiakea area.
