I have been reading dis forum all season and enuff already.hopefully this is the first and last time i have to do this- the only reason i'm writing now is i don't think it's fair that my other daughter had to defend kamie. i'll tell you a little about kamie...she got a full-ride scholarship on her pure talent-not "who u know" or kissing anybodys ass. despite having a bad jr. year. she still had 28 d1 schools and 6 pac 10 schools contacting her. when it came down to the final weeks b4 signing date she was still talking to 10 coaches, including team usa and asu coach charlie. so don't this tell u that obviously these coaches saw somthing good in her. i wasn't gonna go here but since many of you did... so will i- many say she's not a team player-check out her stats-she's got a ridiculous number of assist and a more than decent number of blocks and rebounds. do you think it's fair to ask kamie to drop down a notch so her team mates can keep up- she shouldn't be punished for being faster. it's true-alot of plays are for her but only since she has the ability to create open shots for her team mates (mufi had her run the ball for team aloha for the same reason-ask him)and it ain't her fault if her team mates don't know the plays, stand around watching her, forcing her to take it upon herself. i'm not saying she's perfect, there's room for improvement but it pisses me off cause you know she is a good player. to all you girls who they write about-don't get mad-keep your heads up, keep playing hard and remember it is an "honor" if they write about you since they only seem to write crap about the top players in the state! nobody writes about the "average" player. remember:this site was intended for fans not jealous two-face back stabbers! never a good idea to attack someones kid!

@kamiesmom-All due respect, sometimes we as parents look at the argument words of others rather then look at the point of view of what people is trying to say. Ill just take some pieces of what you wrote above and maybe you will get a better understanding of what I am trying to say. First of all i agree with you about her pure talent that she is blessed to have, but talent only can get you so far especially in college ball, they don't mess around there or they don't care what you did before. All that stats that you say she has accomplished is AWESOME but I believe she had the potential to do even more. The competition in the BIIF as well as the state is at an all time low. For example Lia Galdeiria is probably the best and most athletic player in the state while kamie may be the second player to her, but for college status right now the Awa girl is better suited for college ball then both of them, why is that i say well the Awa girl only a sophomore sees the court like a senior, she can dribble both hands, she is so unselfish that her teammates believe that when she has the ball she is gonna pass it to them all the time, and most of the time you never know what she is gonna do also her outside shot is very good from an arch shooting perspective view.. As for you saying that a lot of coaches seen something in her in high school well I seen potential in kamie when she was playing in age-group bball. In the past 2yrs I have not seen an improvement from her at all,and that bothers me because as good as the coaching staff is at the school i would have expected more from them to get her and the others better prepared for their upcoming season. I wish I had the opportunity to have coach her,I not saying she would have had better stats then now but she would have a way better understanding to excel at the next level and what it takes to achieve more then what she can now. As a spectator when she has the ball I too believe she is gonna shoot the ball so you cannot blame the others for standing around because them and 1500 others were thinking the same thing. To win games it's not dropping down a notch so your teammates can keep up its actually giving others confidence and feeling better yourself. Another example that fits well to what I am saying is MICHAEL JORDAN and he's process of what he had to do to get to the top.....AND THAT IS GIVING AND RECEIVING CONFIDENCE. As stated above most plays is design for her, and to me WHY NOT, I would have done the same to, but at the same time I would of use her on the post or flashing to the middle more often....... There is no one in the state that can stop her on a daily basis down on the post and that is lia included. Mrs. Imai look what Kona did they played man to man on waiakea and not once did they double up on kamie..... why is that because they wanted and new she would dribble and take her outside shot, and they were find with that. But look where she was effective .....IN THE PAINT. But also you can go against what i am saying and that is in college ball she will have to play the point or 2 guard so its better suited for her to that in high school, which is very true, but she better learn how to go to her left as much as she is good at going right and that means a lot of practice now. and she needs more Arch on her shooting, her form is great no need to touch that at all but when she learns how to shoot with good ball rotation everthing else should come together.... This post was intended to be positive and no means of harm to KAMIE. Last but not least to all who believe kamie has a bad attitude during games.... well its not at all. Its actually her competitiveness she inherited from her dad. During he's playing days he hated to lose and as her feisty ness well she gets it from her mom. I remember always seeing kamie's mom and the ohana at there brother dennis bball game all the time..... ALWAYS SUPPORTIVE LIKE SHE IS NOW WITH KAMIE. Good Luck Kamie at states. ENUFF IS ENUFF

i don't wanna talk crap about other players-but last year, you were invited to try out for team aloha and some people you are talking about got cut. unlike other players kamie has never concentrated on just basketball-she's a 3 sport player. i'm sure she'll improve once she gets to college. as for stats-her college coaches didn't even look at it-they recognized her talent.they love her shots the way they are and stats can be deceiving. i like many of the kona girls and dawnyelle is awesome but she was playing against girls that are 5 feet tall. as for lia- she scored only 4 points on kamie-the rest were on fast breaks. i'm not gonna talk about lia anymore-she's awesome and also kamie's friend. you can compare all you want but kamie is one of the few girls in the state of hawaii to have ever held a ranking in the nations top 100 girls basketball. makes me sick to know that kamie probably calls you aunty or uncle when she see you! enuff already! as for the game i think grant should have put safulu on lia-kamie on dawnyelle-jamie on thea-and daven on anu-might have been a closer game. my opinion. all in all-it's over and i wish all the players the best going into the state tourney.

@kamaismom, if this is indeed you, which i doubt cause this site is for could-have-been's not current all-stars.. the true athlete (or the family of the true athlete) who is grounded and knows who they are should not feel the need to defend themselves on a silly site like this... when you one all-star on the court and off, you no more time respond to everybody's perception of you.. if you do, you'll have a hard time handling success in the future for sure..

...but since i have your attention, let me just share this.. i remember an interview Lebron James had and it was good advice for superstars, athletes, etc... when bad press come out that is not true or the truth is distorted, the best thing you can do is not play the game with the media or a site like this cause you no can win..

...whatever you say, they'll be an answer or another opinion which you don't like.. that's how they keep you in the conversation game-- you and your daughters are bigger than that.. us bloggers wish we had the kind success your daughters have, that's why we bloggers--we never really made it has big as we wanted to and blogging keeps us on the "court" (sort of speak)--its our way of still trying to "make it".. if we became what we dreamed of we wouldn't be blogging--don't join us.. not yet anyway!!

..again, don't respond to the perceptions of others.. just do you thing.. if you respond, we got you!!!

    ..just a thought..

Forgive me for asking, but who is Kamie, what school does she go to, and what seems to be the issue?

@kamiesmom- I never did attack Kamie or any other girl in a personal way on this website and never will. I give opinion's of what i see and not hear, everything what i said above is debatable for good or bad and thats what this forum is about to share info and observation. When you say it makes you sick that kamie probably calls me uncle or aunty...... then probably it should stop here. I don't think you understand what i was saying on previous post, because if you did you would of understood what i was getting at. I was actually posting about KAMIE in a way that was meant to be GOOD. I am just in shock that you would feel this way. I just replied to your post to make PEACE of what was said about KAMIE that was posted before. I think you should read my post AGAIN because it was intended to cheer YOU up as well as KAMIE

She is the PG for waiakea high school that will be playing tomorrow night at RADFORD high school in the state tourament. She is one of the better players in the state. Like her mom said she was on that TEAM ALOHA that represented the state.

@ed her name is kamie imai-she goes to waiakea high school-played for team aloha, hawaii select, received a full basketball scholarship-is so humble that not even her school mates new that she signed a letter of intent.
@ socrates-thank you-you are so right. i will end by writing this-NCAA statistics-449,450 female highschool basketball players-percent that get a chance to play college ball-3.4%. we should stop comparing these girls and be proud of the number of girls from hawaii that have made it!

Kamiesmom, this is Alyssa's dad. We got Kamies back. We all know that we would not be where we are today without her. See you at states!!!!!!

@Ed Kamie is probably one of the best 3 sport athletes to come out of the Big Island or even the state. In my opinion she will excel in college because they will work with her in a way that she has never seen. I wish her the best in anything that she does. She is not only a great student-athlete, but a wonderful, wonderful, and fun person.

Congratulations to Kamie and her family. Regardless of the circumstance, a Division 1 scholarship is quite and accomplishment.

Best of luck to her. Don't know to much about Waiakea Basketball other than Brandon Kawazoe was a big time scorer. On the court too!

Did Waiakea Girls qualify for States?

Wow I guess Waiakea not going to far in this state tournament? Sorry I just read what her mom wrote an it sounds like Waiakea is a 1 man show! Her teammates don't know the plays or just standing around and watching Kamie! That's a full scouting report just gotta try and contain Kamie and let her teammates beat you and it sounds like they can't!! I can't see a 1 man team winning the states hell 1 of if not the best girls basketball player Hawaii has ever seen(Shawna Kuehu) didn't win by herself she needed her teammates!

@D-808, I think the issue is the WHS girls and coacheS became dependent on Kamie. They all know the plays, they all know what to do. But as Kamie goes, so does the team. This may be stupid but I think it was a good loss for Waiakea. Good will come of this.

I commend Mrs. Imai and Kirsty. Nothing better then having Ohana by your side. "FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIPS" don't fall into someones lap it is earned. Congratulations.

    As far as i'm concerned...

It's very sad to see there own peers (as well as some adults/coaches)that hate on kids (talk negatively) that try to accomplish personal goals "while working as a team." Unfortunately, it does happen.
It seems as though a lot of individuals don't like to see success by some of our local youth in our small communities...

Drive on Mrs. Imai...PERSEVERE!...and good luck at "states" and your daughters future endeavors!

I didn't know Kamie played for the boys....lol...j/k...(just a joke because you posted it in the wrong section.)

Anyway congrats on the scholarship....The one thing I've learned in life is that there is always going to be someone jealous of you....It never fails...You could be doing charity work helping kids or something and there will be at least one person making a sour face somewhere saying "you know they are only doing it for the recognition"...Just ignore them and keep doing what you do......

@OldG---there was nothing wrong with the rest of the girls on the WHS team. it was all the COACH!!!

how can you be successful if the plays are run around one player(this is not a dis on Kamie, she was just doing what the coach told her to do). the other girls standing around---THATS THE PLAY! believe it or not!

for the rest of the team, they did the best they could to support Kamie and themselves.

but how can you help when you get taken out of the game because you didn't follow the play of just standing there?????

aseyecit, the coach should just leave and the school should have someone in there that will work with all the girls on the team.

some bloggers said that they should have posted Kamie on the low post, did he even try that? the coach had a girl on the team that would have given WHS a great inside-outside game, but they never worked with her or any of the other low post players, go figure

Well WHS went as far as one player can take them, i feel sorry for the other girls on the team.

what is he going to do next year? does he have a go to person? or during the off season is he going to take a course on how to coach team ball? hahahaha! thats too funny.

as for next season, it will be quite interesting with all the underclassmen.
