Honokaa will have a hard time with HPA's size but they will pull off a 45-49 win. Tyler Meyer will hit the game clinching 3, his first make out of his usual 10 attempts per game. Jake Vallente will lead Honokaa with 14 points

    @Shaka6

Why do you think Waiakea and Kam will pull out the wins? Just wondering...

    @johnnyboy

The size might bother them. However it didn't bother a Kohala team that has no one over 6 feet...as they won by 30...so we will see..

Hilo will be too much for Waiakea. Hilo by 10
Kam will pull off a close one. Kam by 1
Keaau will be close w/Pahoa. Keaau by 5
    Honoka'a will win
    Kealakehe will smask Kona
    Kohala by 30+

    @BIIFFan

    Thanks for the input.

    Here are my picks...

Waiakea by 5...handled Kam's pressure like nothing, and got a lot of practice against pressure against them. they will be prepared and are playing well. Hilo's press is over rated...if pahoa could break it anyone can...considering they have no guard play this year.

keaau by 10...their guard play will be too much for pahoa, if keaau cant control pahoa on the boards look for it to be a lot closer...

Honokaa by 10 or more...no one knows if HPA is real or not, with a 6'6" and a 6'9" transfer they still managed to lose to a kohala team with no one over 6 feet by 30 points...if honokaa keeps the pressure up look for it to be a blow out since HPA only has one true ball handler, the 6'6" foreign exchange student...

St. Joes by 10...st. joes has been playing their best basketball..saw them down at the moanalua tournament, and its hard to see them losing if they play like how they did...also coming off a big win against kau will give them confidence...their defense has been great, (30-3 at the end of the 1st against kau..ended up holding to kau under 20 points..)...kam can pull it off if st. joes doesnt handle the pressure, and they out rebound them..also kam is in desperation mode since i know they dont wanna go down 0-2...

    My picks
Hilo by 5-10...I just don't think Waiakea's guards can handle the press...If they do i can see Waiakea winning by 10....

St. Joe by 10 or more....They just seem that good lately...I don't know what else to say...Should be an easy win for the Cards....

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Pahoa by 5, if Isaiah and Byrd play the whole game...I just think that Isaiah and Byrd will be too much for Keaau inside...I can also see Keaau running away with it though, if Pahoa depends on their guards too much...I think Pahoa's zone can stop Keaau's guards from penetrating and make them rely on outside shots....Then all they have to do is contest Cazimero...

Honoka'a wins big....HPA just got thumped by Kohala and from what i've seen in the preseason Honoka'a is much better than Kohala this year...I know that's a terrible way to predict a game but i haven't seen HPA yet..lol...

Kealakehe by 15...Kona is down this year...really down..but they still fight and play hard...

Kohala by what ever they want...lol...With their press against Laupahoehoe, things could get really ugly really quick...

    My input...

Waiakea will squeak this one out with free throws down the stretch. You don't think the Warriors are familiar with Hilo's 2 best players? I think they win it by 3.

St Joe will win by atleast 10. Kam pulled off the win in their first meeting with Fairman in foul trouble (fouling out early in 4th). Cards seem to be improving with good preseason competition, while the Warriors have lost a little steam, especially with the season opening loss to Waiakea.

Keaau wins this by 5 or less. Keaau has the length to match Pahoa, but guard play will be the difference, especially on Pahoa's small court. If the daggers sit in the 1-3-1, Keaau will pick it apart for open jump shots.

Honokaa by 20+. Without seeing HPA's big men play, I can't assume they're that great after their opening loss to the Cowboys. Plus we're talking about 2 players here...at the very least we need to think about the other 3. Honokaa is tough. Great defense and they have scorers to compliment.

Kealakehe typically plays to the level of their competition...doesn't help that this will be a rivalry game on Kona's home floor.

Kohala by 30+. Don will drop the press by halftime and mercy rule will prevent this game from getting out of hand.

Well I think waiakea will pull out the win because saw all their games from pre-season until present started off shakey but they have progressed a whole lot in playing the game and playing as a team. I also liked the way they play defense I think that is one of their strenghts (defense can win games) and if they can break hilo press waiakea will win not by far but will be close I say by 4 points. Waiakea need's to be ready for those Hyena's like the HTH said.

Kamehameha will pull out the win against St. Joseph because they did it in the pre-season just at the buzzer so it will be a very very close game I say by 2 points. Thier young but do have enough talent to pull out wins. And judgeing the east side D1 teams it can be anyone's game it will depend on who comes out to play that night so it will be an exciting season.

The play by play I got was "Little Cameron Ita" played BIG tonight in Waiakea's win over Hilo. 63-62! They controlled the 2nd half by setting the tempo. The refs were factors as usual as I was told. Good call shaka6, bigisle, obiwangobili! Too bad I missed this one!! Would of loved to see Da Warriors win!!...but gotta work!

I just got through watching "one of the best High School games" ever....

    KAM VS ST. JOE

It was "neck and neck" the entire way....until the fouls and the "breaks" went St. Joe's way in the very end.

It was funny, I can't pin point an "outstanding player on the Cardinals due to the fact that they we scratching and clawing for most the way points wise, they didn't look fluent at all offensively, alot of loose ball "put backs" not really a great shooting night for Sabe or Andrade until the end (couple 3's, which were off of loose ball pickups). Fairman did well, but for the most part he was "over-whelmed" by Kams 3 post players (especially Cabatu)...he muscled him for most of the night...then Carvalho and Alapai took there turns to pretty much make him a non-factor.

On the Kam side...after the game, it was like they won and very happy with there performance. (being that they are very young)Taking the Cardinals to OT, Mentally, the young Kam Warriors were strong, crashing the boards (Cabatu - 11 rebs and Cavalho-14), to Fairmens - 8 at the most.
Kams only down fall was the fouling and the turnovers in the very end (comes with youth)...I think they had almost 30 fouls total as well.

The inside presence of Cavalho and Cabatu was great, both had 15 and 16 points respectively.
Kam should keep there head up, next year (with everyone returning), they will have there banner year!

Flopper of the night: "JACOB ANDRADE" OMG!!!!!! You guys gotta see this kid in action, when he's "off" and the games close....
I have never seen a High school player make soooo many flops / fakes (falls on the ground and shakes like a fish at times!!!, when he's only hacked lightly on the arm), i'm serious,,, JACOB ANDRADE...wow, everyone in the crowd was in shock at the consistent flopping that this kid was doing (spectating kids were actually teasing him because of it during the game - calling him "Hollywood" ...and the refs were buying into it! His Dad (Eddie Andrade) was also screaming "begging" for fouls. (while standing on his feet)..he sits next to the mauka basket (it looked embarrassing to say the least. (pointing directly in the officials face) After the game, Mr. Andrade looked like the cardinals lost (what a disgusting look on this adults face!...I see where his son gets it from. It was so funny (the flops), people were actually laughing after a while...

    Great game!

Happy for Waiakea...I guess you can call it "Karma" regarding the 2 transfers to Hilo!!!!! Most of the people in the Civic heard about the game and applauded Waiakea...it seemed like there's not to many Hilo fans now-a-days??? I wonder why?

Waiakea Vs. Hilo game was pretty darn good!!! I guess the excitement in the BIIF is back. Its fun to see our schools at such a competitive level. As for next year I hope the schedule makers look at what teams are going to be good and schedule those games on seperate days. Think about it, they would make so much more money at concessions and gate sales would be so much higher. I missed the St. Joe Vs. Kam game which I wish I could have seen!!!!

Honokaa beats HPA by about 14. Kaumu Lorenzo probably scored about 30pts. Honokaa was actually supposed to beat them by alot more but the coach let everyone play. If he kept his best 5 in it wouldve been a blowout. Tyler Meyer still hasnt found his shot but is a hustler and plays good defense.

Kamu Lorenzo sat out the entire Kona game for missing pracice. I really like the kid, very competitive and great athlete. I wonder how much he scored if you say around 30, that's pretty darn good.

I think Meyer was 0 for 4. Kid should be the point guard. He can beat his man off the dribble anytime he wants. Honokaas point guards are about 5'2. They had a hard time running plays.

Lorenzo just couldnt be stopped. He was hitting 3s, getting by the 6'9 transfer with ease for easy points.

Kamu is solid!!!! Hopefully he is able to get more touches and looks. If this happens Honokaa will be successful!!!

Kamu is solid! got alot of touches tonight. most of them from Meyer. I believe they both play on a travel team together. Those two can do some serious damage when in together.

St. Joes won...a loss is a loss and a win is a win..no need to get salty over it..I can name a 100 excuses on why st joes didn't win by 30 too if you want..but it won't matter...

Also...Kam was happy with the loss? Hahaha..wow I didn't realize the goal was to only come close and be happy with it...i'm sure they are happy with being 0-2 as well...haha thanks for the "great input" BIGKamlover...

Vallente is good too. very explosive. I think Tyler hasnt been hitting his shots because he has alot of pressure. his uncle is the coach.

    @ Obiwanginobili,

Sorry for maybe coming on to strong for your liking bro...no pun intended. Straight up, St. Joe did deserve to win..they dug deep and won when they were not playing there best. Hats off to them!!!!!

Kam played there best game of the year *including preseason* and it was fun to watch. As far as them being happy...maybe I wrote it wrong for different interpretations...but "it was a good game to watch on both ends of the spectrum.

Its just that the circus that was going on during and after the game, unfortunately took the show!!!! lol.
I honestly hope that St. Joe takes it all the way (and I mean states D-II). If there gonna do it, then need to do it "this year" cause they only got 3 great players returning (with No JV) the five players that sit on the bench (all year so far) need to work alot more to have a shot next year.
(7 seniors depart). This is there chance to make history!!!!!
    No salt here bro...just opinions.

@BIGFAN you said the game was one of the best games you have ever seen in the BIIF, but yet you say it was a circus. When you say one of the best games what do you mean. Was it great shooting(10-15 3's), super intense, back and forth scoring, up and down, super rough, or just plain good basketball. Could you fill us in.

    Thanks
