Why no posting on hawaii college basketball teams? Is'nt this a website for HAWAII HOOPS?
Went to my first UH-Hilo basketball game of the season last night. I would love to go to more but most of the games conflict with my work schedule. I was really sadden by the lack of support for our home town team.
Heck, high school jv games (boys/girls) has more in the stands than they do. There's also no half time entertainment or giveaways for the womens game only the mens. Why is that?

    YOU GOTTA LOVE THIS GAME!!

....thats cause they moved out of NAIA.. when was just the Vulcans, BYU, Hawaii Loa, HPU, and Chamanaud --the civic was packed.. now they bring in teams that Hilo fans no more connection with.. when i played every hawaii college team was a rivary game--was like an extension of highschool.. was exciting-- we use to have beefs--clearing of the benches and all.. we played against big time players like alonzo morning and montambo from georgetown---lost by choke but still bumping against the best was great for the fans and for us local born players... was good fun i tell you.. i wish i new how to bring that kind of excitment back..

    ..just a thought..

@Socrates; you got that right! NAIA was the best thing for the small schools in Hawaii. The local talent could shine and compete against the best the mainland NAIA teams had to offer in all of the sports. Chaminade shook the Cavs of UVA along with many other examples in other sports including many national championships on the volleyball court. Hawaii fans love to watch local athletes take on the mainland foes and come out on top. As the old adage goes "It's better to be a big fish in a small pond". Maybe the times have passed us by but I remember the 1970's and 1980' with fondness when I think about UH-Hilo, Chaminade, BYUH, Hawaii Loa and HPU.
