I believe the thread about Coach Hinano Higa and Coach Bob.

More about Coach Bob (didn't know his name), but yeah, that's the one.

Well the admin must not have liked the topic or the content. But on a more personal level, I know Coach Bob personally and I think he is a great coach and gives a lot to the community. Please don't judge him only by what you see on the court.

If that was the case, then we all would be in the same category, lol.

Let's be honest. Some coaches are calm and professional. Others are yellers. Some are whiners. But in the end, they all are helping kids. So let's give them some credit.

I've only been posting here for a couple of months so perhaps I got up the nose of the wrong people; don't know who the "admin" are. Also, there seems to be a contingent of people that know each other, so perhaps I'm and outsider.

However, I do know coaching and I know kids. What I saw in those games was enough to tell me that he shouldn't be around kids. He may know X's and O's, in fact I think he knows them quite well, but he doesn't know kids and the negative motivation, profanity, and humiliation is something that doesn't belong in high school sports.

I just wonder how he, and other coaches, still get away with this in broad daylight.

He runs a bball camp. He is positively involved with many kids' lives. Some of my friends' kids go to his clinic on the weekends at Manoa. They love him and his camp.

It is easy to take things out of context when you only catch a glimpse of things. Have you been at practices? Have you been at off-season workouts? Have you seen him during camp or clinic sessions?

What exactly is he saying? Can you please be specific? You are being very vague. I have seen Roosevelt play Moanalua during the regular season, and against Mililani & Lahainaluna in states. While he does raise his voice, I never heard anything obscene coming from his mouth or any profanity used. And I was sitting first row exactly across their bench.

I have both played for Coach Bob and had the privilege of coaching with him for a while and hf is totally right, you shouldn't judge him just by his in game demeanor. He has always held his players to a higher standard, academics first, no swearing, no trash talking, family first, off season help, all of that. He values intensity and tenacity and models that for his players. All of his Roosevelt teams have been scrappy and played with tremendous heart, never talking back or hanging their heads and its a testament to his philosophy (IMO).
db I can see where your coming from as a spectator, but there is really so much more to Coach Bob than what the fans see.
