..great game for hilo tonight.. total domination.. awesome team play.. wong, shintani, allen, spikes, kawaha, and the crowd on their side..

..can we say Hilo is peaking at the right time?

..is keamo and mandiquet improving as coaches as the season progesses? i think so...

..mattos lost it a little tonight while on the bench, but coach lee may have role modeled some of that same behavior in past games which then kind-of gives permission to his players to act like that as well so the coach gotta take some of the blame for that, although mattos did come a long way in his maturity, just not far enough i think..

..Hilo's win tonight may have boosted their chances of having more all-stars than expected, but yet i don't think keamo pulled off COY honors.. i'd still give it to lee for his consistency, no?

    ..your thoughts..

...as hilo was pulling away, coach lee called a time out and was talking to the boys---but scolding them too like in their face kind (the more i think about it, the more i think coach lee needs to watch how he acts to the players)---at any rate mattos starting getting in his teammates face as well telling them "common lets go while pounding the ground",

...and in another time out after janado made a turnover, mattos looked him in the eye and told him "lets goo.. watch you passes".. it was like mattos was being coach lee in his attempts to motivate the players, but if i was playing and my teammate yelled at me like that i'd be effected big time and probably wouldn't want to play..

...soooo if coach lee no get COY it's because of his unnecessary snappage every once in a while.. too bad..

    ...just a thought..

Congrats to hilo "BIIF D1 CHAMPS" they played an all around excellent probably their best game this season. They came out energized & ready to play job well done!.

To me I think waiakea comming off a hard fought game lastnight against kealakehe took alot of energy out of them because they came out flat from the start.

Waiakea played into hilo game, played the wrong defense, alot of their shots did'nt drop & morante big man got into foul trouble just hard luck it happens every team has there off night and this was waiakea.

Mattos stepped up big in playoffs comming off with an excellent hard fought game lastnight against kealakehe and another excellent game tonight against hilo. He got upset but he was trying hard to make a come back and trying to get the team to step up which could'nt be done tonight.

But on a positive note waiakea & hilo still going states, Best of luck to both teams and "Represent The Big Island BIIF" Well. Support each other & show them that we can compete too...
...Also Congrats to St.Joseph "BIIF D2 CHAMPS" & Runner up Pahoa best of luck to both teams & Like I said "Represent The Big Island BIIF" Well and support each other.

As for honoka'a good luck, believe in yourself & each other, play smart & play hard. Would be awesome to have one more Big Island BIIF Team Represent.

Yeh that question was popping in my head like multiple times and the worse part was the score ran up and did'nt even call a timeout earlier in the game to change the defense Hmmm... Well what you gonna do!

Just wanted to responed because that was my same thaughts.

Coming in second ain't that bad. Recent history shows that the team coming in 2nd in BIIF usually does better than the team coming in 1st. Last year, Waiakea won and Keaau was second in D1 BIIF. Waiakea drew a bye the first night then lost their next two games and came home winless. Keaau, I know, won at least one game and played at least 3 games at States. Same thing in D2. Pahoa was second and played very well. Can't recall details, but I think they won 2 games (even without Ekau) and Jon Viernes made all star.

So, Waiakea and Pahoa, look forward to a successful State experience! Good luck to you both!

Hilo peaking at the right time is correct. Players and coaches seem to be a the same page throughout the playoffs.

@ Socrates, both Coach Lee has done a good job throughout the season as did Mattos. I've come to realize that they're are not the type of athletes/coach that can hold their emotions in. They both have a ton of passion. Sometimes it's "lili-bit" too much. But they've come a long way.

Allen and Shintani are a part of another BIIF championship team. Congrats to them. Good to know that our BIIF has "laxed" transfer rules. Not hating just speaking my mind with no malice.

Congratulations to all BIIF teams. You've made this one of the most enjoyable seasons ever. Good luck to all State bond teams.

@OldG, x2.....Great season so far...so many close games...I think in the east the only team that wasn't in every game was Kau...All the rest were tough battles...The west was the same minus Kona and Laupahoehoe...I can't remember the last time every team was this close in skill....And the cool thing was that they all had different styles and different matchup problems for each other....Look at the Kea'au, Waiakea and Hilo round robin...all had different styles that gave each other problems...In D2 the playoffs showed the same thing....HPA takes St. Joe's to double overtime...Kohala beats HPA pretty easily during both meetings during the regular season, but loses to Pahoa who St. Joe's beats pretty easily...Given both St. Joe's and Kohala didn't play their best games but still...

Best of luck to all the teams going to states...Let's show them that BIIF b-ball is a force to be reckoned with...

Question: Hilo won the D1 title but are they really the best team in BIIF? Waiakea beat them two out of three games. Doesn't that make them the best team, who just had an off game last night. Or is D2 St.Joe the best team? They beat every team that played last night D1 and D2 at least once this year. That would include wins against Kealakehe,Waiakea, at Honokaa and two convincing wins over Hilo the D1 champs. They are 7-1 against the teams that played in last nights playoffs only loss was to Waiakea. You can also argue that Hilo is now playing it's best basketball and peaking just at the right time so they're the best at the moment. Just some food for thought.
Good Luck To All The Big Island Teams, Players And Coaches at States. We are all very proud of you and wish you the best at states. And also good luck to any BIIF refs who will be at states. We are also proud of the great job you've done this year sometimes under very difficult circumstances.May all you calls be the right ones. If not, at least close to being right.

Hilo is the best D-1 team in BIIF this season because they won the championship! The team has peaked at the right time and I hope the team brings that to states. It's not how you start but how you finish this season and seasons to come. I think Hilo will make the state championship D-1 game because they will have a favorable bracket and be seeded 3rd. Good luck and it's my opinion to the topic.
