Long-awaited rematch between Kohala and Honoka'a. Kohala beating the Dragons 38-37 at Honoka'a. Keys, Analysis and Predictions wanted. Key I think is Honokaa's Kamu Lorenzo. He struggled in the first meeting but has been playing great lately. He matches up well vs Kohala because of his size and athleticism and ability to handle the ball but he must definetly be more aggresive going to the basket and post-up more. Kohala's Brandon Bautista can light it up any day, shooting or controlling Kohala's offense. If he could get his team going early, it could get ugly for Honokaa. PREDICTION-
Honokaa 47-42

Where is the game at?

It will definitely be a great game. I say Kohala by 5. The game will be played at Kohala so that will be a huge advantage. The crowd gets to the opponent. Last time they did meet Kohala won by 1. Brandon Bautista was catching cramps a little after half time I believe. The score at that time was Kohala up by like 10+. Everyone knows once you catch cramps they will not go away. So Brandon was going in and out catching cramps. He does run the offense but I do have to say that the Kohala team did a very good job being confident in themselves and the other teammates to pull off the win. Its mid-season and don’t expect Brandon to be catching cramps. I recommend taking the drive to Kohala to be there to watch. It will be great.

I am sure to be there, really looking forward to watching Bautista play especially on he's homecourt.

They really should put Tyler Meyer up against Bautista, he was the only Dragon giving Bautista fits. Hopefully Honokaa comes out confident and doesn't get frustrated by the crazy Kohala crowd.

Meyer played decent defense on Bautista @honokaa due to the court is smaller, its hard to get space between you and defender at that gym. At kohala it will be a little wider and more room for bautista to weave through defender to score or dish off to open man, so by that i would have Vallente and Alip play "DONT LET HIM TOUCH THE BALL"defense on him. I would let the other guys try and figure out how to win the game against me.

@t 96720-
With your reasoning, I would put Vallente in to guard Bautista. Eddie Morales is too foul-prone (probably due to his natural physical defending because of being a football player) but Morales would neutralize Bautista's quickness. Bautista is almost a coach on the court, really tough to figure him out.Posted 2 years ago # -
And when i mean defense,i am not talking about pressure defense i'm talking about BLAINE MEDEIROS LOCK DOWN D. If kohala do send a player to screen for bautista i would prefer to just automatic switch off, bautista is to smart and quick to pick apart what opponent is trying to do. As for morales you dont know if he's coming or going, have watch him play a few times and he just don't get it. But it will be a good game to watch...... who's reffing this game?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Idk whose reffing the game, I'm hoping its not the darker, probably late forty's to early fiftys, ref, he is terrible. I think Honokaa should start a fast lineup, maybe Gaspar, Vallente, Morales, Meyer, and Lorenzo. Honokaa matches Kohala's size so it won't be a problem. Honokaa handled Kohala's press in a good-enough way that it probably will not be a big factor.

96720 please don't tell me that guy im talking about is you
Posted 2 years ago # -
WINNER!!! You just won the grand prize for 2tks to Malu's lau lau sale at mooheu park in hilo between 8-4.
Posted 2 years ago # -
im guessing your from hilo (20) on friday do me a favor... actually do the whole town of honokaa (and kohala) a favor and stay home. PS whens the deadline for the lau lau?

About Meyer guarding Bautista, I think he can contain Brandon. He held Bautista to 2pts when they played in Honokaa. But like 96720 said, "the court is smaller". Brandon should have more room. Meyer can still watch Bautista. Kohala is hard to beat at home. Kohala by 1 again.

$5 A ticket or you can buy 1 ticket for $10 and i give you 1 free....... No can beat that deal...... Who Like buy??????
Posted 2 years ago # -
I heard the only reason it was a close game is because the short bald mexican looking ref was playing the Kohala crowd....I heard it was the worst game ever reffed....lol...but we all can say that for about 60% of the games???? sorry 96720...if you are a ref.....I guess I might have to take the 2 hour drive out there and see what happens...I think Honokaa's coach will ruin it for the Dragons and the crowd will be off the chain....Kohala 45-38
Posted 2 years ago # -
If you read all my post you would know that i am not a ref, just a hoop fan like all. But i can tell you this, if i were one i would be a good one. Kohala by 8

Honokaa I Believe!!
Posted 2 years ago # -
In the last game Lorenzo missed a free throw to tie the game with 0.4 seconds left. Loreanzo is probably the best PF in the West and could score 20 a night easily if he would use his strength and size in the post. This would open up good looks for the shooters on the perimeter.

Honokaa struggled at Kona last week...playing at Kohala will be drastically different. It really doesn't matter who guards Bautista, he's at his best in the open floor. I think Kohala wins...7-10 points.

I think Meyer got nothing on Bautista. Bautista is much faster and smarter. From what i heard Meyer only pick Bautista once but it was a true foul and the ref waz call some bullshit calls. they were the three bline mice LOL. and one of the ref was from Honokaa You know what that mean!!!!I think the first game would of been ugly if Bautista didn't catch cramps because they was up by 15 thats what i think..i would have to go with KOHALA by 10 points
Good luck both teamsPosted 2 years ago # -
True, Bautista is way smarter and faster
Posted 2 years ago # -
Eddie Morales is probably the only player Honokaa has that matches Bautista physically. If Morales is assigned Bautista, he has to stay out of foul trouble because he could definetly shut Bautista down. I think it all comes down to the refs and how they see Morales' natural physical style defense.

***Also*** does anyone know if Kelson Kawai will be or has been a factor in games? He didn't play in the first meeting. Heard he has great defense...
Posted 2 years ago # -
@johnnyboy- Thats a big statement!!! Well just for that, i hope coach meyer have morales guard bautista and i hope the ref don't call 1 foul on morales. If you are saying that a person thats not gonna even be considered for HONORABLE MENTION can shut down a 2 time POY then this talk about how good BAUTISTA is on this website is NOT CREDIBLE.... I have not read any post of how good this morales boy is and now he is a BAUTISTA STOPPER. I have seen morales play a bunch of times this year and i haven't seen anything what you are explaining. BUT THATS WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME.
