Does Iolani need a change? Platoon style can only go so far. I watched the St. Louis Game and St. Louis Coaches won that game, adjustments weren't made by Iolani. Why aren't players coming to Iolani? Because of the school or the progam, too robotic?

This is Doc's last year anyway, so what is the big deal? Iolani is a good team and has as good as a chance as any other team in the state....

The platoon style worked pretty well against St Louis the first time the two teams met. It's tough to play teams multiple times, especially if you won the first round by 20 points. Iolani went 6-0 in the first round of the ILH(a pretty impressive feat), so the platoon system was fairly effective.

Give the Crusader coaching staff/players credit, they made adjustments and played much better the second time around. It also hurt that the Raider's "second unit" was missing its top two players, but again, all the props to the Saints

Yup this is Doc's last year. I wonder who will be the coach next year? Off the top of my head I can see the following people apply:

    Chico Furtado
    Greg Tacon
    Adam Wong
    Dean Shimamoto
    Darryl Gabriel
    Alika Smith

I have heard rumors about the coach from Moanalua being interested.

It's Iolani, who wouldn't be interested?

So let's see if I'm reading the first post corectly:

Iolani loses a tough game at St Louis then another one at Kamehameha (who by the way is really good) and some dope starts saying they need a change. I guess the fact that Doc and his staff have won 7 State Titles, numerous ILH Titles and have been to who knows how many consecective State Tournaments means absolutley nothing. It's a long season and most teams run into some bumps in the road along the way. The teams that navigate those bumps will rise to the top at the end.
The statement that Iolani needs "change" is so far off base, only thing that needs change is the thought process of the idiot who started this thread.
As for future replacements, I'm sure a school like Iolani will follow their process in the nameing of a new Coach when it's time to do so. So to bring up names may be fun, it's not very responsible to list names of Coaches who have current programs to run.
As much as I enjoy picking games and poking fun, I hate when some faceless retard with a keyboard uses phrases like "rumors", "I heard" or "someone told me".
I would rather talk about the Punahou/St Louis game than dealing in "rumors".

St. Louis beat Punahou. Punahou is really underachieving this year....

Thank you Backpick for your personal opinion, which all of these comments are, personal opinions. I thought this website is for people to bring up subjects for discussion, to get other peoples opinions and ideas. Calling people "idiots and retards and etc" isn't too professional or appropriate, and to me is very disrespectful to the website and the people that use it and view it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and should be be able to voice that opinion in a respectful way. Time will tell what the outcome is.

Dalton Hilliard, Henry Cassiday, and Manti Te'o didn't play. However, Manti was at the game. It was an ugly win for the saints, they fell apart in the 3rd quarter but managed to pull it together in the end. The outcome could've been different if these players played but could've, should've, would've at this point don't make a difference because they didn't play and the "W" went to the crusaders. STL played pretty sloppy in the 2nd half. Makaula did a great job guarding Viena, Gonsalves shot great all night, and McClinton hit key free throws to seal the Victory.

Woah Big Boy, I jumped on you for the rumor you claimed you heard, which had no supporting material to back it up. In my opinon, if you want throw a bomb like that then back it. I'm pretty sure Coaches don't want their name being thrown around regarding another job.
As for your latest post, no problems here, that's your opinon and you can rant all you want, my feelings won't get hurt like yours would be if I said you were a nimrod, which by all accounts you are!

One more thing BBallConcernedIdiot, you join Hawaii Hoops website community two days ago and make three posts and because of that you want to set the ground rules for others? Last time I checked, everyone has the opportunity to write whatever they want but run the risk of getting hammered by the peeps. Plus it's just words, get a spine and deal with it, you're more than likely a member of PETA and Greenpeace.

There are many people who makes rumors. While the rumors may turn out to be true, at the time the rumors are posted here, it is impossible to validate the rumors. Look at the firing of Mike Coito from the other week? Look at people talking about the Iolani boys who were either injured of academically ineligible. There are so many rumors being told on this site. I think if you are going to jump on one, then you need to jump on them all.

More than fair advice KonaCoast, but it won't change the fact BBallConcernedIdiot is a knucklehead.

Like I mentioned, time will tell. Sounds like the truth bothers a few people and their only defense is to rank on people. Sorry we can't all be professional Jerks, but it is getting a bit fun to see someone get so excited.

Pluse rate at a comforable 65 right now. But I do enjoy ranking on people. Now you say the truth will come out. What does that mean, are you reading Taro Cards? Good to see you came into the gutter with me by calling a jerk, granted it was indirectly. What has got lost is your original post asking if Iolani needs a change after two loses. Hate to think what you want to do with Punahou after four losses.

Personally the rumors make this site more interesting. If you want more credibility, then you would need to have the registration process more idenitifiable.....

Talk about confusing the subject, you went out of bounds a long time ago, just to try and feel good.

Once again, you stated Iolani should make a change due to the platooning and the lack of talent on the campus. They have four seniors on a 17 man roster and with the exception of the 2 ILH losses have been one of elite teams in Hawaii. So please expand on your assesment.
As for you calling out the Moanalua coach on rumor while his team is still playing is something I don't prescribe to.

Okay, I concede, you da man, I give in. If this is what people do when they blog, I will look for other ways to discuss issues. Seems like you think this is your website, but it looks like others don't appreciate your wonderful information also. I now see where I went wrong, with the title of the thread. I should have not put Coaching Change, what I meant to say was in the first sentence, is a change needed, but that was my mistake. Iolani has had great success and I never said that Doc isn't a good coach. Doc gets everything out of his players.Regarding platooning, if it is so popular, why don't other high schools or colleges do it. There must be a reason. This was the real question to be asked, thank you for helping me get to my point. I would really like to hear your comment on this. I also never said that they don't have talent, I asked why players aren't coming to Iolani. Where are the 6'-4" plus players going? Iolani has a great basketball tradition, I would think that good/great players on the island would be tearing down the doors to get in. It's a question Backpick, to spark some intelligent conversation. Maybe the school standards are tough or maybe the player doesn't prefer platooning or Iolani style of basketball. As far as naming a coach, I only did that after someone else actually put names down, and you are right, bad judgement. So let's get our facts straight before you start spewing out comments. It was a question to get some feedback, comments, opinion. Pulse 65 and relaxed. Have great evening.

No, Bballconcern you are right. Your discription of Backpick is just that. He has to win or be correct, or he talks trash. Why? He has problems. Some kind of social defect. I'm a 17 year old and I know better than to talk to people that way. Either he's a child or very small and narrow minded adult that HAS TO BE BETTER THAN THE CROWD OR HE GETS LOUD!.Ignore the narrow minded child.
