What do you all think about J.V. running the same systems
as the Varsity does? Pros and Cons anyone?

Good question, here are my thoughts:
Pros - As a JV coach, one of your main objectives is to prepare your team for varsity basketball. With this said, it would be beneficial for the team moving up to learn what they will be running eventually. I believe it doesn't have to be the primary sets, but as long as the JV players understand the schemes.
Cons - The JV players at public schools have a smaller time frame to learn the system as opposed to ILH schools since these schools have an intermediate league. I believe that the emphasis at this level should be fundamentals so when they get to the varsity techniques like blocking out, talking on defense, throwing bounce passes, etc. are second nature.

I think all your points are valid. But I think that upon entering 9th grade you should have had all the fundamental work necessary. Whether it be attending clinics or practicing at the park with you friends. I've noticed as of recent that a lot of players nowadays have no fundamentals what so ever. And I also noticed that youth teams coaches concentrate more on winning PAL championships rather than developing the essential tools needed to become a great player.
As for schemes and stuff that's all relevant. I think if your good enough your gonna make Varsity no matter if you know all the Varsity stuff or not. But it helps.

You're right monkey, but as you admitted as well a lot of players nowadays do not work on basic fundamental skills as much as they should be.

I think some of the age-group coaches are parents that don't how or teach the fundamentals that kids need to advanced to the next level, and is just there to coach their kids for the time being.

The Lower levels should be a "farm system" for the Varsity teams. Ideally, all the coaches should be on the same page w/ an overall program philosophy and strategy IMO. Kamehameha does a good job of incorporating all its teams under one umbrella -- though the intermediates don't run the same things as their Varsity. Their JV teams seem to incorporate some of their Varsity schemes. Iolani's JV and Intermediates runs some of the same schemes as their varsity. Punahou's JV does not run the same strategies or schemes of the Varsity but their intermediates do. Not sure about Saint Louis. MPI - everyone was running different stuff.

"HoopsZeus"! Great name! I agree with the JV farm system 1000%. Now, if it was incorporated into a summer league team as well, damn! Owesome thought huh.

All of you are right on the ball with this one. These are Basketball Programs not Basketball Teams. Now you don't have to do everything the Varsity team does, but there should be a basic structure of continuity that make the jump from level to level somewhat eaiser. Through my obersvations I see that it's very rare that a JV coach is on the Varsity bench, that alone would start a connection that would trickle down. Plus in the ILH you hardly see JV/Varsity doubble headers so the league itself makes it tough to get that overlap. But each Varsity Coach makes his own mind up how heavily he wants to be involved.
