    @ thecreed

Well as the season is going, it obviously shows that he hasn't been doing a good job with his 1 and 5 record. Though, his team jump starts really well in the begginning of the game but doesn't seem to hang on to their lead. Is it coaching?

... @thecreed, your question is "coaching style", which is a little different from "coaching period"..

..i think his coaching is pretty good when it comes to x and o's but here is the deal...

..basketball is more than x's and o's.. it's being able to engage your players on a personal level; it's having a personality with parents and the rest of the kamehameha community; it's about getting the kids to really believe that you care for them and that they matter; it's about being open to all kids, not just kids who went through the middle school system; it's about being inclusive not exclusive; and it's modeling the humility that the school prides itself on having (hawaiians call this ha'aha'a); and its also about being secure, not threatened with other coaching styles or philosophies so that you are open to learning; and on this note which i think you called "coaching style" he could use plenty improvement.. yet if he works on these aspects of being a coach, he would be awesome..

    ..just a thought..

@Socrates: Aloha....Nicely put! When you walk into the gym at Kamehameha there's a sign that states "Honor the Game" & "Honor Her Legacy"! It's all aspects of the game(s) and legacy IMHO. There's no Humility only Pride of a person thinking he knows everything.

@Creed why ask about kam coach, are you trying to be a better coach yourself? or trying to get his job?

    @ socrate,

When I read your statements above....
I think of Socrate's "The Great Classical Greek Philosopher"
Very well organized and stated in many ways that alot of individuals can understand and appreciate...Great Job!

@Luna86, thanks.. i'm old already.. and i loved to watch the kids in the 80's/90's and also the coaching and coaching styles.. and so, let me add this.. regarding the "stay or leave" question..

..."coaching" can be learned; "coaching style" is a gift!! some have it some don't.. yet, i beliebe one can work at getting this gift but it requires great humility and openness..

...if the coach can't improve his "coaching style" within a reasonable amount of time, then he should leave!!.

...and from my recent observations of other coaches, this would hold true for the Hilo High coach as well--where his issue is almost opposite, looks like he has plenty humility but it comes across as unstableness or unsureness, in this regard he may lack both coaching and coaching style.

    ...just a thought..

Wow Socrates....that is so true regarding "coaching can be learned" and "coaching style"

    ...and within a reasonable time!

Very good analysis of the Hilo High (head) coaching situation as well..alot of humility but lack of style or maybe "impression" on his players.

But what do I know...I could be so way off...I agree to dis-agree with my self sometimes, it's so confusing at times...lol ..wheres my medication????

I feel sorry for the seniors and captains who didn't play the last game, they could have made a big impact.

Kamehameha Hawaii was doomed no matter who coached them!! Those kids are just not as good as everyone thought. Everybody talks about they are young team maybe you guys expected to much from them! I knew they would stuggle I watched them play here(Oahu)at the Merv Lopes Classic yes they did go 3-1 but they lack an efficient outside shooter in this day of Basketball alot is dictated if you can hit the 3 point shot and they can't do it!!! they Lost to St. Louis(1-4)Beat Farrington(2-6) a mainland team and Beat a Roosevelt team without Kaipo Pale!! So i knew they would struggle but it's because they not as good as some of you all think!! They are 1-5 Yet they were in every game from what I've read on these blogs so maybe the BIIF is not as good as everybody thinks!!

@TheBIGShow, no the BIIF isn't over rated, just Kamehameha...I agree that on this site there is a huge bias for Kamehameha...They are a decent team but none of their players are THAT good yet...They definitely have the potential to be really good but as of right now they aren't...Could Pacheco do a better job? Yeah probably, but vision is always 20/20 in hindsight...They have been in a lot of close games and he may have made a few bad calls but hopefully he learns from it....

    @Ramdwn31, Iphone buddy, iphone...lol...nah j/k...

Nah The BIIF is a Good league! but if Kam is Overrated then why are they still competitive against the good teams of the BIIF because if Kam(a Private school) played in the ILH(Private schools league) They would get Toasted every night

Yeah I agree!! Kamehameha would be winless in The ILH they be a bottom feeder in the OIA Red as well. Maybe they be better as a D2 team cause I think they could be successful in the OIA White & ILH D2

@ TBS- Overrated. Thanks. I assume that's the consensus of the outer islands. But there's a lot of parity in our league. And maybe you're correct. The other factor is twofold. 1- Preseason is preseason. I've watched how the outer island schoolS play here. They truly use it as a tune up. Iolani in particular.
2- The players on O'ahu get to play with better refs. (my opinion only). I've watched a lot of state tournaments and the play is a little more "HEATED" then it is here. And I believe its a good thing.

So the question should coach P leave....It's up to him and the administration.

Reguardless what anybody thinks or wants, Coach Pacheco is the coach. With what he has, I think he doing a good job.. Could he do better, Probably. But its easier to coach from the stands or bleachers then on the bench... Lets just wait and see how the second half goes before we start judging him.

Remember you play 32 mins in a game(high school), not 16.. Its how you make adjustments
