Just looking for any "Man Childs" out there that may jump on the scene this summer as an incoming freshman. A la Derrick Low.

Like I said, who cares....

I guess you don't. You didn't have to respond to the post.

Kimo Makaula's K-Town team has a 13 year old named Reeves Kolher. An 8th grader at Kailua Inter School that stands 6'2" easy and still growing. A big, muscular, strong, solid post player, and a rebounding stud that cleans the glass in the 15u NJB division at the moment. Kolher is no Derrick Low, and will attend possibly Punahou (still working on it) or Kalaheo. Coach Chico wants him badly.
Kailua Basketball Association (KBA) has two great guards that are 6th graders to watch for. Kupaa Harrison (Tim Harrisons son, Head Coach for Kailua H.S.) is at Iolani. Iolani Inter Coach Rudy Tolonghari will be very happy with this smart player.
And everyone in Kailua knows Kayleb Gilmore (George Gilmores son, ex Chaminade star). Best defender around and can shoots lights out regularly. At St. Anthonys for now but his father is talking about St. Louis H.S. Come on George, are you crazy, send him to a basketball school like Iolani buddy. If at Iolani, he will play in the Iolani Classic and get great exposure dad. Think about that. Maybe the best 6th grader in the state at the moment (my opinion).
Maryknolls Micah McGivern (Kailua HS Asst. Coach P McGivern's son) is a seventh grader that has great height (mother and father are very tall and athletic) and is still growing as we speak, good hopps and good ballhandling skills for a big man (thanks to the Agena Clinic) that will make him a good player for Maryknoll in the future.
All live in Kailua and all will contribute to their High School team for sure.
I know, I know. Who cares.

I've seen Kolher play this past summer with K town. Yes, he is huge. Yes, he has respectable talent. But he will become a football star like his brother before becoming a basketball star. Yes, he is going to Kalaheo. Yes, Chico could use him. His father is constantly on his butt every second of every game. His father also played football at St. Louis back in the late 80's. Rick Kolher. I remember him well.

I know who Kupaa Harrison is. Kupaa also plays a pretty good quarterback for the Kalani Falcons Pee Wee Football team. Never heard of George Gilmore though. 2D must be from Kailua.

I live in Kailua. How can you forget Kekai Smith?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Kekai Smith can be seen at every Pete Smith Camp since Kekai could even walk. 6th grader at Aikahi elem. Son of Kalaheo basketball star Josh Smith. Nephew of WAC All-Star and former All-State Player of the Year Alika Smith. Grandson of legendary Coach Pete Smith. 3 sport player that excells at baseball. Applied at Iolani and A.O.P (his uncle Alika is the head coach). Another Kalaheo hopeful that Chico is waiting for, heck, the family name and papa's face is inbedded on the new gym floor. Nice kid.

Good job. That kid will be a good player and should go to Kalaheo. Family tradition already. Far too many good Kailua kids go to private school. If they all stayed here both Kalaheo and Kailua High School would be dominate contenders.

Let me see...Iolani or Kailua...Punahou or Kalaheo...Hmmm...Let me try this again...Iolani or Kailua (Kailua Coach Tim Harrison's son attends Iolani)...Kamehameha or Kalaheo (Kalaheo Coach Chico Furtado's niece attends and plays for Kamehameha)...CouchPotato...What would you do if your child had the grades?!

My oldest son Sheldon attended St. Louis.

Kekai Smith will be a prime time baller...mark my words.
Great attitude for a kid his age...

Agreed, played park league for me 2 seasons ago. And if he is lucky he might be attending Iolani also BBJ!
BBJ, you've seen and coached hundreds of kids. Any good young ones that standout?
Shaka, you've also seen and coached hundreds of kids on Sundays. Any good young ones that standout?

Howzit everybody!
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on good tournaments for the 5th grade level during the summer time. I have a pretty good team from the Big Island and would like to come to Oahu to play. I saw a website for the Hawaiian Holiday Hoops tournament by arc hoops. Is this a good tournament? Or does anyone have any suggestions for a competitive tournament during the summer. I appreciate any help I can get.
Mahalo!!!!!

Braddah Brew try these Top 3 Summer Tournaments.
1.) NJB Annual Summer Classic.
2). Brother Nolan Summer Tournament.
3). Aloha State Games. All are very competitive and rewarding for your youth team.
Everyone from Oahu heads over to Kona for The Stingray Tournament.
Good luck with your team buddy.

youre an idiot for starting this topicPosted 1 year ago # -
there are a lot of quality players in the eighth grade at iolani including troy young. He is probably the best player at the intermediate level right now
Posted 1 year ago # -
Reece Foy is also a very good baller at Iolani. Also and 8th grader. Iolani's current 8th grade class is actually pretty good...they won this year's intermediate basketball championship.

If you dont know, now you know KONA GAISON. 8th grader from kamehameha. Yup, Blane Gaison's son. Another Kela Marciel. He actually is just an athlete and i mean athlete. This year he played both basketball and soccer for kamehameha intermediate. This was at the same time! He would play a soccer game in the afternoon and then go to his intermediate basketball game that night. This kid is special, a combination of explosiveness, speed, quickness and relentlesness. This kid got a motor i've never seen at his age and i've coached at all levels! I heard that kamehameha's varsity football program is already making plans for him as how he will be used. They are grooming him to be the man! On top of that he is a great kid and a great student. I heard a story that Blane told him he cant walk anywhere, he needs to run where he needs to go. I just felt people needed to know about Kona Gaison since we are talking middle school.Speaking of basketball he has been playing in the NJB all net seasons since he was 10.

What about outer islands...anyone know of any up coming talent from other islands? Girls or Boys?
What about Oahu? We heard of upcoming boys, what about girls?

We are going to hear alot about Kala'i Santos. A 12 year old sixth grader at Punahou that can outright play basketball. Son of Rex and Rosie. Coached by his dad at K-Town last summer. A member of the KBA 2009 Select All-Star Team which is heading for the Aiea Tournament in late March. Also plays QB with his Pop Warner football team. Kala'i is destined to make his mark at Punahou.
