Give or take I gaurantee that's going to be the team
agreed...eh who wuz POY for last year?
Pi'i Minns was the POY last year.
Kainoa, Micah, and DeForrest for sure. The other two, not so sure. Malik belongs in the top 5. I would select Mark Baay as my guard. He doesn't get much exposure because of the team he's on.
Who is Mark Baay?
@stl Mark Baay is the flilpino gaurd for damien. the three games i watched he scored alot because he hella shoots alot. He was one of the more underated players in the state but he looked liked he palyed for himself.don't get me wrong he is pretty decent
@MrBasketball
i highly doubt they would select Mark Baayfor even 2nd team...since he's from Damien he'll probably only get Honorable Mention
I think Kouhola and Malik Johnson would round out the list quite nicely.
I am going to put that Ekau kid from Pahoa on my list. He is a beast. Imagine him on a team like Kam or Iolani. 6'3 210 lbs with a 40 inch vertical. I really was impressed with that kid. Not taking anything away from Andrade, but Ekau was the best player that we played against all year. He was draining 15 footers on us all day with a hand in the face. Plus he had a couple on monster blocks on us, one that it looked like he hit his head on the backboard as he chased down 1 of our break away layups. Seemed like a good kid too. first kid to come up to Pale after he hit him with the elbow. Really felt bad about it. Showed a lot of class.
Ekau is a soft spoken yet very passionate player. Funny part about it is, he's been doing the exact same thing since his Sophmore year...could leap out the gym, consistently hit short jumpers, monster blocks, rebound machine, etc. yet nobody ever noticed him till the state tournament this year.
The Big Island has always had very good players such as Ekau that could play with any other player in the state. Sometimes, more often than not, they go unnoticed due to either not making the state tournament or just having a bad showing when they get there. Think of this...if Kohala finishes that semi-final game in the BIIF tournament, nobody would ever be talking about Ekau.
