By far the best music played during warmups, halftimes, and dead balls, is at the Na Menehune Holiday Extravaganza!

Was doing the "Hustle" to "Rapper's Delight" on Saturday!

No one puts the tunes together like Greg Tacon!

Wow!!!! We are not the ILH or the OIA, but I think you can say the BIIF is pretty competitive in the state!!!

Was the Waiakea game pretty good?

From what i heard the Waiakea game was pretty good...they stayed within 5-10 the whole game...I think they may have even took the lead at one point...But from what i've heard it was very competitive....

Yes brew the BIIF is very competitive this year. Everyone might think in hindsight that they don't have good teams but tonight was a classic example of why you must play the game to really see how a team can really compete.

I just came from the Moanalua Classic and St. Joes put on a clinic on how to run a discipline offense. Granted Moanalua couldn't buy a basket, but you can't take away the game plan St. Joes had defending Moanalua. Hats off to St. Joes I hope that they win it all this year in Division 2 it was very fun to watch them play and defeat a legitimate OIA division 1 powerhouse.

As for Waiakea, I think that they ran out of gas at the end versus Kamehameha. Although Kamehameha was without all stater Micah Christensen I thought that their defense pressure throughout the game wore out Waiakea and in turn created some easy baskets at the end of the game. Waiakea could be a dangerous team come playoff time if they are able to find a way to get there.

@ Tiger, I believe Micah is on a volleyball trip.

@ Brew, Waiakea stormed out of the gate against Kamehameha. I believe they went up 10-12 early. I were up by about 8 at half. Kamehameha's traps eventually got the better of Waiakea. Kamehameha took the lead late in the 3rd. Kamehameha got their lead up to 8 point and Waiakea tied the game. I can't remember if Waiakea ever took the lead late. Kamehameha took care of the ball late, made key free throws and won the game. Waiakea is a solid basketball team and they play hard and tough. Their loss is nothing to be ashamed of.

@ Brew, St. Joeseph's is a well coached team. They are extremely intelligent and they share the ball. They could be the epitome of a "team" in Hawaii. Their movement without the ball gave Moanalua trouble. They sat in a passive 2-3 match-up zone and dared Moanalua to hit from the outside which they didn't. St. Joe's lead my 10 at the half. Moanalua took a 4 point lead with 2-3 mins left. But, they didn't hit shots late and St. Joe's did. St. Joe's hit bigger shots which is why they won the game.

@ Tiger, the Moanalua Xtravaganza has shown that each of the better teams, Iolani, Kamehameha, MPI, and Moanalua have flaws that need to be addressed. Some more than others.

The game between MPI and Iolani was close for the better part of the first half. Swanson looked good early. MPI got a lot of good looks inside but couldn't finish. Iolani, is well, Iolani. They take care of the ball, hit outside shots, with the occasional drive, or drive and kick. They also play solid defense. Even though MPI played them very close in the first half, Iolani was never in trouble of losing this game.

It appears that teams with size or a strong post will be Moanalua's undoing.

    StL-

It wasn't so much St. Joe's size that hurt Moanalua. Yes, their big post scored 18, but many times he found himself the recipient of open looks created by the guard's slashing and dishing. St. Josephs runs a disciplined motion offense with many basket cuts - it also doesn't hurt that they can knock down the outside shot as well.

Moanalua was hurt by the fact that Josiah Kauhola got whistled for two quick fouls early in the game. He never really seemed to recover after going to the bench.
