I didn't see any post for this job in the newspaper. So, they probably will move someone up from within? What you think P2W?

I just spoke to a very reliable source and he informed me that Kelly Grant was being considered (or is being considered) for the position.

    Stay tuned.

Me to BBJ i heard of the same thing about kelly grant but i also heard that Saint Louis is still in the process of looking for the basketball coach since tengan just decided to make his decision not to long ago. well we should see in the ilh summer league who will probably be the coach or the fill in for now.

Hey gang. Source now tells me that it is highly unlikely that K. Grant will be at St.Louis. He believes that Grant will remain at Kaimuki.

    Stay tuned!

Too bad, SL & it's returning young men with promise & potential could use a good coach like KG who can teach, lead, & let the young athletes play the game without barking up & down the sidelines. Hope Coach T stays, but could use some good help (AC), maturity, & knowledge on the sidelines. Looks like they'll be pretty stacked from top to bottom including the bench, only if they truly hand pick basketball talent (top to bottom for every situation-pounding & control) along with bb smarts & heart. Football is Football - Basketball is Basketball when it truly comes down to the final minute of the finals. Please don't wait to find this out the hard way. SL Football is ALWAYS going to be great & dominating, but SL ADMIN.- LET'S GET THINGS ROLLING QUICKY, so everything else can keep up to par or better. DEVELOPE YOUR YOUNG & TALENTED ATHLETES NOW!! It's too late by the time the promise, potential, & talent is discovered and developed only by the time they reach the varsity level. Learn from other's success...know wad I mean? If Coach T doesn't stay for BB, there's many others out there with potential. Coach Randy Canencia from SL JV, Alum K. Spencer, Coach V. (Run&Gun), Coach J.C. (Kings), etc.

** JUST STAY CLEAR FROM PROMOTING YOUR JV HC - E.M. He'll do more damage than good, and I'm strictly talking about the young athlete's sake & overall welfare, not including the SL bb program.

** NOTE: when I was talking about barking up & down the sidelines, I wasn't referring to Coach T, but about the SL jv coach E.M., who even shouts out orders to his pets when to breathe in and breathe out, run, jump, pass, stop.

i think coach t needs to leave. i believe st. louis should have a new head coach that could use the players to the best of their ability and showcase more of what they have to offer. they always start basketball late because of st louis in football and really hurts those guys because of a lack of assistance there. i remember last basketball season when i went to watch a couple of their games, i noticed coach t would make them run a sort of set up half court offense most of the time even though st louis had to speed to push the tempo and were more a fast break team. st louis should of pulled away from a lot of teams last year but well see how the coaching goes next season

Hey Play2Win, hows about we get the AD involved in this? Year after year this goes on with SL. Tell you what, if my kid was going there I would have made mention from Freshman year. SL needs a bball coach that is totally dedicated to this sport only. So what do you say?

true to that it is the AD that makes the decisions on hiring or firing of the coaches RIGHT? also exactly my point on what you said on being dedicated to that specific sport because i really thinks it hurts the team coaching two teams and not being able to win that championship in both.

OK, my vote is for Kaipo Spencer and Duke as his assistant. Or vice versa.

Yo' hoopsitiz & Play2Win - you guys both hit it on the head!! Unfortunately SL doesn't have a new AD yet (job posting closed in march 08), or the admin. is planning to drop a big surprise hopefully soon (?). Hope it's a dedicated, ambitious, ethical, hardworking, competent, & fair AD this time around for the entire SL athletic programs (all sports-inter. to vars.) for all STUDENT athletes, too. Coach T could really use some good help, & both those coaches would do jus' fine. LET'S GO SL !! The clock is a runnin' & you're goin' to run outta time.

Yo' hoopsitiz, I'm starting to hear things a swirlin' around. Maybe this afternoon or tomorrow morn' the new AD will be finally unveiled. I'm hearing Mr. DT, but who knows. If it's so, wonder which one willit be FB or BB? Wadda you think? News at 6:00pm? I'm not holding my breath.

Then let DT be the AD. I think that would be a good move. Isn't the rule, AD cannot be coaches?

Didn't Cal Lee pull it off at SL? I'm not sure. If so, how do you think SL will do in both FB & BB?

FYI, St. Louis just dropped out of the Iolani Varsity Summer League. The new schedule is posted here.

Changes: McKinley moves up to Division I to replace St. Louis and Lanakila Baptist has been added to take the place of McKinley in Division II. All other dates and times remain the same.

@hoopsitiz - The rule that prevents ADs from coaching exists in the OIA, but not in the ILH.

Hawaii Hoops, I can't show you any by-laws but I personally did see a ref this past season, tell a coach from the previous season that became AD this season, he had to get off the bench and go sit on the bleachers. This was an ILH game.

@hoopsitiz - What you're referring to is a slightly different issue, though it is true. ADs (or anyone else) are not allowed to sit on the bench unless they are on the official staff (trainers are an exception).

ADs are, however, allowed to become a head coach in the ILH. The most recent example is at Iolani where Co-Athletic Director Carl Schroers was hired as the new wrestling coach.

Thanks for the clarification Hawaii Hoops. Are the Co-AD's at Punahou coaches also? What about Tom Holden? Just speculating here, Hahaha!!!
