I just met Kawika Smith today. I asked him if that was his name and he politely said yes and asked my name. After introductions were done, I asked him about the championship game at te NCAA League. He said they lost but thanked me for supporting the league and watching.
Is this just maturity in a former player? I can't recall many situations of players being polite but I have seen it first hand from one high school team here on Oahu.
Coach Kawika Smith will head the Damien Basketball Team and I think they have much to look forward towards in life and basketball in the near future.
