HiFan's early predictions for the 2010 Boys Division I and Division II State Tournaments.
DIVISION I: (12 Teams)
ILH - (3 Teams)
1. Iolani (#1 Seed)
2. Kamehameha
3. Punahou
OIA - (5 Teams)
1. Kaimuki (#2 Seed)
2. Moanalua
3. Kahuku
4. Mililani
5. Kalaheo
BIIF - (2 Teams)
1. Hilo (#3 Seed)
2. Kamehameha-Hawaii
MIL - (2 Teams)
1. Baldwin (#4 Seed)
2. Kamehameha-Maui
The way HiFan sees it......its Iolani's championship to lose. Kaimuki and Moanalua might be able to make a run at Iolani if the players who play (transfer) will be eligible and gel. Coaching will be bigger than ever during the state tournament. Dark horse is defending state champ Kamehameha. (Can Kamehameha be considered a 'dark horse' team?)
DIVISION II: (8 Teams)
OIA White- (2 Teams)
1. Kailua (#1 Seed)
2. Roosevelt
BIIF - (2 Teams)
1. St. Joseph's (#2 Seed)
2. Kohala
ILH - (2 Teams)
1. HBA (#3 Seed)
2. Christian Academy
MIL - (1 Team)
1. Seabury Hall (#4 Seed)
KIF - (1 Team)
1. Kauai
The Division II state tournament is now at 8 teams, the level won't be as watered down. 3 teams have a legitimate shot at the State Championship in St. Joseph's, Kailua and Roosevelt. Seabury Hall will be this year's dark horse team returning their top 9 scorers. The biggest question is can little schools like St. Joe's and Seabury match up with the physical OIA White teams?
