I like this list. Maybe sliding another d2 in for us, or Farrington, would be my only minor preference. Very minor, solid choices top to bottom.

Not so fast JM. Farrington is not a good team like Kamehameha or Iolani, but they're a dangerous team that could make life uncomfortable for some of their East Foes. A wide open game like Moanalua's could be slowed down by the onorthodox Govs.

Agreed, BP, I've heard a lot about the monotonous tempo they set. My main point was that after facing IPA (college prepatory school in Kapolei in the WW finals @ STL - 28 all at half/ 56-47 final) I think that in addition to IPA, St Joe, etc.. There easily could be another d2 team sliding up there in our, or another O.I.A. teams slot (obviously this does not apply to MHS/Kahuku).

Howzit gang! JM, thanks for hitting me up!

Below is my latest Top 10:

    1. Kamehameha - They have yet to lose to a local team. Until then, they are the top team here.
    2. Iolani - Two early losses might actually have been a good thing for this team. If they play like they did against Kinston, no one can stop them. No one.
    3. Punahou - These cats are big and athletic. Should make states but an injury to starting PG Feldman is big.
    4. Moanalua - Best OIA team. Best OIA coach. Very, very dangerous squad. Mark my words: Final Four.
    5. Kahuku - Akina is one of the best shooters in the state. He will find it hard creating his shots from the PG position. Hopefully Schwenke returns sooner than later.
    6. Hilo - A couple of Waiakea transfers immediately makes these guys the favorite in the BIIF.
    7. Farrington - These guys are straight up park rats which mean very entertaining games. Not quite sure if will get higher than 7th in the rankings.
    8. Roosevelt - Beat a few Division 1 teams, including Kalaheo.
    9. Kalaheo. What's a Top 10 without Kalaheo? Fernandez is a great shooter, but can he hit it every night?
    10. St. Joseph. Could very well be the best Division 2 team in the state. The hard part is that they have to face large OIA schools during tourney time. So unfair. So unfair.

Oops...just found out Hilo lost to KS-Maui! Drop them out, move everyone up one spot and place Radford at the 10th spot.

Farrington is too high at #7. At least until Saycon returns, which by the way, does anyone know anything about him?

JM: Farrington not a good team like Kamehameha and Iolani? What about Punahou who beat them by 38 yesterday, when Kamehameha seriously struggled against them in the Radford Tourney?

Kamehameha deserves #1 in rankings because they haven't been beat. But Punahou over Iolani right now in my book. Without Scheer, Puns are going to dominate Iolani inside and Crabb is looking excellent. They got the same amount of depth as Iolani too. Maybe more.

Feldman's injury does hurt them though you are right about that BBJ

Sam: Don't think the Moanalua Assistant coaches would appreciate that comment considering one of them has been coaching for a while. And I believe that the newest assistant has been in the coaching circle as well.

BBJ:I think I agree with you with having Kamehameha at number one, but I still like Iolani's upside better than Kamehameha's. We will never know until they play. Can't wait for that one. Hilo lost to Kamehameha Maui, what a downer for them. St Joes back in the top 10 for me.

    @Tiger

I don't quite understand what you are trying to say. I'm sorry. The only thing I've said regarding Farrington is that either they, or us (Kalaheo) could, for arguments sake, be replaced by a d2 team without stretching the imagination too far. St. Joe is a good example of this.

That is my opinion, the only one that I've shared in this thread, aside from complementing Monkey (and now BBJ's) posts about their respective top 10's.

Maybe you are mistaking Backpick's post for mine?

Feldman is a very important piece to Punahou's aspirations to make a state title run. I feel he is a very underrated player. He is very solid and a good kid. He is getting an MRI soon on his shoulder. Let's all hope this is a minor injury. As hoop fans, we all want to see each team fully in tact.
