Anybody care to prognosticate the outcome on this one? Here?s the opening matchups:

    Baldwin vs Hilo
    St. Anthony vs. Harker School
    Seabury Hall vs MidPac
    Kamehameha-Maui vs Kailua

Looks like some good matchups, especially the first 2.

I think Hilo plays Kam-Maui. It was Kam-Maui vs MPI in the other semi yesterday.

Hilo lost to Harker School 67-58. Hilo now plays Kamehameha Maui.

BSwanson, I see your son did well last night, scoring 11. Good for him.

Can you please clarify. Is Mid-Pac in the Moanalua or Merv Lopes Tourney?

Ed, talked to Coach Hu from Mid Pacific. Coach Hu said that Mid Pacific is in the Moanalua Tourney. They are not in the Merv Lopes. Neither is Kamehameha-Kapalama.

From what I been told, both team accepted invites from Moanalua to be in their tourney a while ago. The Merv Lopes assumed these two teams would play in their tournament again without any confirmation from the head coaches and/or athletic directors.

After talking with a couple of people at the tournament, Hilo's downfall was, surprisingly, their press. The mainland school (Harker) basically stayed in the game because of breakdowns in Hilo's full court press. In the 4th quarter when Harker pulled away, Hilo was unable to rattle their opponents and force mistakes. At the end, some of Hilo's players, and even coaches, lost their composure, sealing the deal.

Should be a good final tonight between Mid Pac and Harker. The Owls have the size advantage inside with Swanson and Matthews, while Harker is the more disciplined team with a pretty good outside shooter in Ryan Cali.

Yeah, composure (as good as Hilo is)...is the "only" thing that will stop them.

They definitely have the talent to compete in the states...just need to gel and learn and /or accept eachothers "role".

    Luna,

I was told that lapses in discipline hurt the Hilo team a great deal as well. Discipline is key in making a state tournament run
