Hello, I am new to this website but find it very interesting in that it contains many of the up to date things going on in Hawaii B-ball Hoops. I was just interested to see if Curt, BBJ, 2Dhoops, or the other veterans on this site could give me any info on Any of the past or present boys b-ball high school teams that went undefeated. Facts like the star players on the team, the coach, and what year. Just throwing it out there to see if anyone can answer my question.

I think one of the teams that went undefeated was the 1989 or 1990 Radford team led by Troy Mccoy and company. Mccoy I believe got a b-ball scholarship to West Virginia. The coach of that team was the legendary James Alegre. Anybody out there no of any other team to accomplish the perfect season.

The 5-Peat Teams of Iolani went over a 100 games without losing to a Hawaii team. They're only losses in that span were in the Iolani Classic or when they traveled to the Mainland. Though not undefeated, pretty impressive.

Good job Backpick! Does that count Poly?! Regular season forward went unbeaten.

That must count

Undefeated should be 0 losses for the entire season. Playing mainland teams are losses if it isn't an exhibition in my opinion.

Yeah, just to clarify myself or in being more specific. Any team that went undefeated in regular season play and the playoffs. You are right I think in Iolani being undefeated in the 3 last years of D-Low, Kyle Pape, and Kawika Shoji. But I do believe that the Radford team of Mccoy was also undefeated thru regular season and playoffs. If anyone can discredit that Radford team being undefeated please let me know.

I believe the 92' Kamehameha team went undefeated. Players on that team were Louis Vargas, Alafia Williams, Kekoa Ng, Ikaika Malloe and Elvis Olivera. Also Kahi Villa and Christan Aarona.

PolyHoopsta...I remember that Radford team very well. They had a huge front line: 6'5", 6'6", 6'7". Add to that very athletic guards. Troy McCoy was a special player...a big man who can also put the ball on the floor. Nice touch from the perimeter and smooth moves down at the post.
They were a very unique team in Hawaii at that time and didn't look like your typical Hawaii high school basketball team as their starting 5 were all black. Heck, I think the whole team might have been black except for one hispanic kid and maybe a white kid as well.
I remember watching the '89 state championship game between Radford and Kamehameha, with sharshooter Lenny Kai leading the way. It was a great game with Radford pulling out a 2 point victory.

If my memory serves me correct, PolyHoopsta, I would say that they were undefeated that year.

Man we used to scrimmage the Radford Boys at Coach Agena's Kalakaua Clinic in Kalihi in the late 80's. Those boys were bad!
