To tell you the truth, I thought that they were going to get the #1 seed and that we might get the #2. But with no byes in the tourney it doesn't matter that much. I think that both of us drew tough first round games. I heard that Pahoa has 2 real good players that can fly.

I don't get this shit...St. Joe's has beaten the #2 and #3 seed in D1, had the best record on their side of the Big Island(including D1 teams) and are undefeated against D2 opponents....There is no way Roosevelt should be #1 over St. Joes...And there is absolutely no way Seabury should be ranked above St. Joe's with their weak strength of schedule.....It's obvious that they are setting it up so at least one OIA team makes it to the finals...

It's funny because if you look at the D1 State Tourney Brackets St. Joes beat the 2nd and 3rd ranked teams (Moanalua and Hilo). St. Joes is the only team to play D1 and D2 teams. They didn't lose to any D2 teams all year, and they beat everyone in D1 at least once. Must be the HHSAA trying to make sure 2 outer-island teams don't make it to the finals if you ask me. They didn't want another final like the girls this season I guess.

Doesn't make any sense, anyone got any takes or explanations?

Don't worry, St. Joe is used to getting this kind of a deal - You still gotta beat who they put in front of you. IF St. Joe is worthy of the number one seed, they will get to the final.

Good point about making sure an Oahu team is in the final...economic hard times and all. That will guarantee a better crowd - more revenue - like they say: "Money talks; BS walks."

Only "8" teams in this state tournament? Wow...not that big huh? Thats too bad. (exactly what it is...DII).

Only roosevelt and st.joe really made noise in there respective regular season..bet they could compete in the DI states..but oh well,,,second fiddle (DII) is what it is...good luck to all the teams!!!

How is St. Joe's ranked in the top 10(6th or 7th) overall, including D1, yet they get the third seed???? Serious bullshit....

yah i feel u. st. joe's had the most significant wins. (i.e. moanalua) i though it was gunna be:
    St. Joe's 1
    Roosevelt 2
    Seabury 3
    university 4.
but i guess im wrong. oh well, st. joes got three tough games ahead of them if they head to the top.
    good luck to all teams..

St. Joe's has beaten every D1 team on the Big Island at least once...They have beaten the #3 team in the D1 tourney twice, both times weren't really close either...They've beaten the #2 team in the D1 tourney...They are undefeated against D2 teams...They had the best record in the tougher of the 2 divisions in the BIIF...I'm not sure what else they could have done...Shit they are ranked like 6th or 7th overall in the state...no other D2 team is even ranked...

I would like to know what the criteria was for the rankings...

im guessing roosevelt got 1 because they are from oahu, and thats where hhsaa is. im guessing seabury got 2, cuz they were undefeated in MIL, and im guessing st. joes got 3 becuase they only looked at their record, not who they played. and what did the biif team get seeded last year and who was it? did they blow it, because if they did, then sometimes they remmeber that and would say, "oh, biif blew it last year, they shouldnt be as high this year"... just a guess.

um i dont think they care too much about the preseason. in our game the coach played all 15 kids against st joes. in important games na mene usually play 7-8 that is one huge difference so i dont think preseason is all too important cuz playing 15 is so much different than playing 7-8 dont u guys think. why u guys care so much about preseason it dont even count for anything so thats why plenty coaches play everyone so if st joes beat teams in regular season or playoffs then thats what counts.

@menestudent, that's besides the point...Who has the other teams ranked above beaten that are even close to the talent or skill level of Moanalua during the preseason??? Also the pre-season should be taken into consideration, if not then outer-island teams would always be ranked lower no matter what....Kona girls and Lahinaluna should have been ranked lower because their regular season wasn't as tough as the other teams right? And besides that St. Joe's had the toughest regular season out of all of them...Who has Seabury played that was as tough as Hilo, Waikea or Kea'au??? Same for Roosevelt....

@beanboy, I'm just feeling real disrespected right now...lol...I really hope it's an all BIIF final...

roosevelt beat mililani kalaheo and maybe campbell but like i said preseason dont count u really think playing 15 kids in preseason is da same as playing 7-8 in regular season and playoffs. my uncle was one coach and he said he used preseason to play everyone so he can see who can hang and who cannot hang. no preseason shoudlnt count the way the neighbor island teams get higher ranking is winning state titels then ur league is more legit so until the hhsaa tells everyone dat preseason counts den the coaches will play their normal players and go for the win. unless dat is happening u cannot call preseaon wins legit like iolani was playing all kine guys and resting all kine guys in preseason so i bet u if dat was states den those bruddahs woudl be playin and no tell me keau and hilo better den iolani boyz.

no kona girls da defending champs and biif teams do pretty well so dat makes dere league legit not da preseason and lahaina did super well last year in states so why u even bringin up girl bball....kona was #1 team last year return all dere good players so dey shoudl be ranked #1 even if they never play oahu teams but like i said preseason is used to check out wchih kids can play so who cares. be happy ur team is in states on offense but i trust guys that choose mor den bloggers.

Ekau against Pale can't wait to see that match up both are talented but Ekau jumps out of the gym tho. St.Joe's and Kailua Corey Lau is fast enough to stick with Andrade and Fairman looks alot weaker than that Kailua big man but still St.Joe's got a lot of weapons its gonna be a good match up but I think St.Joe will come up on top
