sup Brew, saw your girl galdeira play for team aloha. team aloha scrimmaged some former girls bball players from ILH last friday at ruger. your prodigy galdeira was matched up against kuehu for almost the entire game.

all I have to say is that it was pretty ugly. galdeira was no match for kuehu who hasn't touched a ball in over 1 year and is still not 100%.

it wasn't even a contest. she is aight, but anyone who saw it, coach dana, amemiya, mayor mufi, coach agena, coach taylor, all saw it.

i think the case is closed. i just thought i let u know they are not in the same league. galdeira who is an athletic player didn't look athletic against kuehu. she often got her crap stuffed. she couldnt elevate over kuehu. almost all her shots was contested with hand in her face. i dont recall her scoring, maybe one basket. she was way weaker. she almost looked like one jv girl playing against kuehu.

anywayz, the girl from molokai, the big post girl, shes good. the molokai girl looked the best with most potential. the other girls are aight but other than molokai (i think her name is aldolfo), all the other girls are just aight.

Thanks for the info HIHoopsFan. I know that she is no match for Kuehu right now, and may not even come close to Kuehu's achievements, but she is a freshmen, and has a lot to learn and improve on. Hopefully Shawna gave her some pointers, so she can improve her game.

What did the score end up being at the end of the game?

Who else played on Kuehu's team?

And it's great to see that they are playing against great players such as Shawna. It will help them play at a higher level when they go to the mainland.

When Shawna was a freshman and she played against girls like Nani Cockett, Kii Spencer, and other former college d-1 players, she was never over-matched even though she was only a freshman.

Team Aloha played Nani's traveling show.....

If I recall, Galdeira was sitting on the bench in OT in the state championship? I don't recall Kuehu ever sitting in the championship game in OT or in cruch time.

When she played last year she was coming off majjor knee surgery and was playing between 65-75% which is what the doctors/trainers did. She still scored over 20 in the championship game playing with one leg.

Also she led TEAM ALOHA to the title as a sophomore. Galdeira led her TEAM ALOHA, this past week to a mediocre 3-2 record. I talked to some coaches who watched and she didn't do very well.

Your comparison is weak at best. Shawna outplayed Maya Moore in the Nike Nationals. Who has Galderia outplayer? Merrifield and Torres from Punahou? WOW!

As for college basketball, not everyone chooses to play college sports. As for Galderia and college, and going somewhere, she needs to qualify and her GPA is going to mean she needs to score extra high on the SAT's to be a national qualifier.

You do know that the SAT's are a sliding scale? And you do know what her current GPA is? Her GPA is lower than Kuehus was. Kuehu went to Punahou while Galdeira goes to Kona.

In my estimation, this is how the GPA's would translate.

A 2.6 at Punahou is probably around a 3.8 at Konawaena. And, a sub-2.0 at Kona is about a 0.2 at Punahou.

BTW, great comparison being made. There is no factual or concrete evidence being made. BTW, tell your daughter/cousin/friend, Galideira, what's up.....

It's obvious she is your friend since your post has no objectivity whatsoever.....

    kbaby11 = GONGED!!!

This is by far one of the dumbest posts ever. What's next kbaby11? Are you going to tell us that Konawaena has higher academics than Iolani? A Hyundai is more extravagent than a Bentley? Oh I know, previously frozen poke is better than fresh? I know, the Wizards are better than the Lakers, haha! Black Jesus says you need to save yourself! Site administor, can't we get rid of all the uneducated/dumb posts. Imagine if I could create an idiot-check, sort of like there is a spell check. This person's post wouldn't be able to get through the idiot filters. Here's some advice, if you are going to post dumb stuff, at least put your real name so everyone knows how dumb u are. Or, have your mommy proofread ur junk.

If that is true, that is pretty disappointing for the people who have supported her.

Some people don't realize the opportunities that they may have in the future. If anyone close to her reads this please tell her, don't waste your talent. Many people make mistakes, but it is what you do after making the mistake that counts. Go foward and make the best of your talent.

Everyone, relax... There is no truth to that rumor. Please be more considerate when making those type of statements. Not just about Lia, but with any high school student. They are still kids (minors) and shouldn't be subjected to these attacks. We adults should be encouraging their development in the game that we all have come to enjoy. Leave out the negativism and offer a suggestion, so they to will be blessed with the knowledge that we have learned from others. We adults can better all Hawaii basketball players, or attempt to. We are all HAWAII-ans and the players from Hawaii represent all of us. There must be some adult in basketball, in Hawaii, that we can ridicule. Come on hoopsters, we can do it! Aloha. .

Only time will tell who's telling the truth lol. It's like Roger Clemens innocent until proven guilty. Galdeira was caught smoking HOOKAH google it. its legal flavored tobacco you don't inhale it it stays in your mouth. you just need to be 18, Lia isn't 18.

hey kimjohn, how can u prove this? how do u know the HHSAA is going to suspend her?

Although hearsay can go back and forth, from a logical standpoint I'm a bit skeptical of the HHSAA taking any action. Even if the information was true and confirmed.

After briefly skimming Chapter 19, her offense would likely be considered "Class B" or "C". While "Class A" offenses such as murder and distribution of illegal substances can carry suspensions of up to 92 days, and expulsion from school, smaller punishments for infractions with less severity can also be handed out in 1-10 day suspensions.

Being that it would likely fall under "Class B" and judging from the lowest increment "Class A" offense suspension, 1-10 days, that an even lighter sentence would result from this situation.

However, even in assigning this punishment we still need to ask ourselves a question.

Namely, was this a school sanctioned field trip? If not, I don't believe her high school, or for that matter, the board in charge of high school athletics could possibly rule her ineligible or hand out any sort of punishment.

In hindsight we can also use the St. Louis High School Football team as an example. Even though in this case it was a school trip. If I recall correctly, 4 day suspension and game forfeiture was all the punishment handed down. I do not believe the HHSAA took any further action (Please correct me if I am wrong).

I feel that if she did in fact get caught smoking, nothing should be done by the HHSAA. However, in my own personal opinion, I don't think that this story is legit to begin with. The portion regarding the HHSAA that is.

I'm not stating that anyone is guilty of this, but falsifying stories and passing on phony information with malicious intent (even if it's just to sway people away from their opinion, on an Internet message board) is quite the despicable act. Especially considering many of the people discussed here have no ability to defend themselves from rumor or hearsay.

Big deal! So what! Its not weed, its not illegal kind of serious! She is human. She will make some mistakes. She will live and learn. We should keep to basketball and leave her personal life to her own.

Yes Poipounder, live and learn is true. But, she is in the girls basketball spotlight here in Hawaii and should be a responsible role model for both younger girls that idolize her as well as elder individuals such as coaches, scouts and family members. Unexcusable in my opinion. She is old enough and should be smart enough to use better judgment.

So using tobacco under the age of 18 isn't "illegal" as you say? I am not a lawyer, but I do believe that stores do not sell tobacco to people under 18. Please correct me if I am wrong. So PoiPounder, we should support "kids" using tobacco since it isn't "illegal" or "serious" as you call it. I hope you are not a coach. in my opinion, this is VERY serious. If this is true, she is on a trip, getting a free trip, representing the state of Hawaii, and playing for a free tuition if the cards are played correctly.

And this isn't a big deal to you? Worst case scenario, kids smokes, gets caught, bring negative publicity to the team and tournament, and Team Aloha doesn't get invited in the future.

Yah, I agree, this isn't a BIG DEAL, as you call it. I hope you are not a coach of little kids or any kid for that matter with this type of attitude.

Poipounder writes, "Big deal! So what! Its not weed, its not illegal kind of serious!"

I know, let's start selling tobacco at the high school concession stands! Maybe the schools can make more money for the kids! It's not serious, so what's the big deal?

    Dude, learn the law....
