10. Mid Pac-POYPosted 3 years ago # -
I like how bd2010 gave respect to Marcus Holyfield although his team Mid Pac is not Top 10 material. Plays hard reguardless of the score or thier record. Easy to coast through a season that has been done with weeks ago, but Marcus has not let anyone down thus far. Pii Minns may also compete for that prestigeous award POY.
Posted 3 years ago # -
2DHoop: IMHO, POY could well be Holyfield. Extremely talented. He has some nice kids around him, but nothing like what Mins has with Dumlao or Christiansen. Or 3 or 4 other good guys. To wit, MidPac can't platoon, but Kam can. Iolani, too. And Punahou. The only other legit POY candidate, IMHO, is Iolani's Warner...a hellovan athlete, and a real scoring machine. Also, IDK, maybe the Kahuku kid, Jay ???. Smooth and solid.
Steve-O: Your top ten list is nice, but I bet you that only one of your top ten will make it to the state finals.
Posted 3 years ago # -
PS The other finalist you dropped in favor of, IDK, Moanalua? Weak.
Posted 3 years ago # -
IDK are you serious you think that only one of steve-o top four will make the finals. i think that all of them will make the final four. also that Pablo kid is way over rated, Treyvn or Kainoa is the best on that team. and the kahuku guy is named jray.

steve-o-the-clown. I believe that Waiakea will surprise alot of Oahu teams, and that St. Louis (McClinton, Gonsalves, Umu and Viena) could compete against Kaimuki and win by 8. Kalaheo has beaten your Moanalua team (might not get to the playoffs) which consists of Tacon and Monroe, thats it.Punahou, in the ILH DII has a much harder schedule than any OIA division thus ranking them higher (same goes for Kamehameha ranked higher than Kahuku even though Kamehameha has 1 loss). Yes, Pii Minns is edging out a very talented Marcus Holyfield whom has no supporting cast. And Pablo Warner is not over rated, in fact has played every game this season, even when Chu and Tolonghari couln't go, Pablo had thier backs, as I'm sure Chu and Tolonghari would have covered his back if needed. One Team Baby. So steve-o-the-clown, juggle that on your unicycle BOZO!

Agreed GoldenKoi, good points. Kamehameha should be #1 at the moment. Waiakea is legit and should be representing the Big Island. I'd say St. Louis over Kaimuki by 4 in double OT. Both Tautofi and McClinton foul out, Viena scores 20 points because of that. I think you meant Punahou ILH DI hard schedule, I know what you meant. I'm hoping that Moanalua steps it up, still get chance Coach Tacon, geeeve em! And all that Warner, Chu and Tolonghari, got your back! "One Team", awesome stuff!

you really think st.louis would beat Kaimuki?
They have Tautofi, Taulung, Kakitani, Stietzel, And Nutter
Have you seen them play?
Well if you haven't, please do.Kauhuku should be ranked #1, because the OIA Red East is just as competitive or even more then the ILH because in the OIA you have to play against the refs
Posted 3 years ago # -
whos stietzel?
never heard of himPosted 3 years ago # -
In the OIA you gotta play against the refs! Ha, ha, ain't that the truth buddy. I am a huge Desmond Tautofi fan. Kaimuki is the 2nd best team in the OIA and 4th (tie) best in the state at the moment. I have watched Kaimuki play 3 games in the preseason Moanalua Holiday Tournament and Tautofi was a monster! I was part of that group of fans chanting "Desmond, Desmond, Desmond!" And you know what, Desmond responded and crashed boards like Godzilla! Saw them play at Kalaheo and Kalaheo at Kaimuki. Again they looked good and Kelly Grant is a very good Coach as well...... I've also watched St Louis play 3 times. Tough, and mean tough. They can play with Kaimuki garrans. If they can place 3rd in the ILH, win on the Big Island and make it to the states, they may play against Kaimuki. That would be worth the entrance fee alone! I haven't watched Kahuku since the Merv Lopes Tournament (Kings Armory Kaneohe) and they were good. My brother whom has watched Kahuku play at Kahuku says that "The players are big and strong. Fast and aggressive. Just not yet better than Kamehameha" I saw Kahuku play Kalaheo and the crowd was huge, and so was the team. Again, they played well. We've both watched Kamehameha 3 times and both agreed that they (Kamehameha) are the best "at the moment." Now this is just my honest opinion buddy. I'm sure that you have your own honest opinion as well. I just hope we get to see Kaimuki vs. St Louis and Kamehameha vs. Kahuku this post season. Thanks-2D

Princess Victoria, stietzle is this kind of chunky kid that shoots ALOT of 3's but hasn't made any of them.
Goldenkoi first of all Kalaheo only has that fat guy that always tries to take jumpers, and that fernandez kid only hits his shots if he's wide open. You're right, kalaheo did beat Moanalua so i'll make Waiakea my number 10. And didn't St. Louis lose to mid-pac? MID-PAC??? come on kaimuki would smash mid-pac.
And POY, my candidates are:
1. Pii Minns(Kamehameha)
2. Marcus Holyfield(Mid-Pac)
3. Desmond Tatofi
4. Pablo Warner
5. Jray Galeaiand goldenkoi go molest a little boi.

PrincessVictoria: Steve-O's list omitted Punahou, which is my way of saying that they might just make the finals again this year, thus coming from left field (which is where I think Steve-Os predictions come from).
But that's if (and here's an if list), if they get by St Louis (which they almost did at St Louis last week, it coming down to the last minute, and that's without Teo and Cassidy, so it's a distinct possibility), then they can probably can run through the field, right up to the state quarters or semis, where they hit Kahuku and Iolani.
Can they get by them? Maybe yes, maybe no. They defended Iolani pretty good at home without Teo, but Iolani is a great shooting team. That's hard. Kahuku - they are simply tough, and tall. If they get into making mistakes, than Punahou might come out on top...might, because Punahou has been melting down in the last couple games in the last couple minutes, thanks to mental lapses.
Per Warner not being that good, look at who Iolani went to in the last minute the last game against Punahou...and who scored the go-ahead points in the first game against Punahou.
