Apele
Fairman
Scanlan-Leite
Fisher
Kawaha
KagawaI'll be honest, I have not seen too much of the Westside youngsters. But I'm sure there's some VERY talented young men out on that side.
Kagawa I would list based on his relentless defense.

None of these guys would ever make the Varsity squad during the 80's or early 90's. It was a big thing back then when a frosh or soph was playing on the varsity squad. the biggest impact underclassman of all-time has to be Bruce Ferreira, not even Shon Malani had that kind of buzz as a freshman starter for laupahoehoe. Another player that was awesome but did not have the support to back him up was Kona's Mike Pilapil who i believe was move up on the Varsity level as a frosh or soph.

I havent seen much players on the westside either, but i also enjoy watching kagawa play defense, but he needs to develop an offensive game

@ 96720-true, but what do you think about this years youngsters. Tells us your favz. Kagawa will have the luxury of playing along side Apele for a while. And that's all G.....

With Kagawa's Bulldog defensive and Lanakis Offense, these two could be the best PG-SG dual that this state hads ever seen

@oldG- Kagawa-Apele reminds me of a Ferreira-Medeiros,Francisco-Estabillio,Yangson-Rabang tandem. Each person takes the pressure of each other to do what they do best, which is one guards the opponents best scorer while the other can focus on running the team offense and also look to score on a timely basis. Kagawa plays hard nose defense but also apele is overlooked in that category because of what he is ask to do as Kams PG. If apele was just to focus on playing the other teams best guard while somebody ran the offense,it would be a long night for the opponent.

Exactly what I was thinking. Lanaki is complete player, not accomplished player, a COMPLETE player who will only get better.

..i gotta go with Sebi Ohara-Saft.. in two years, he'll be the most favorable college recruit with offers from hawaii and mainland.. Apele, Kagawa, Kawaha, Alapai are all great sophmores and have been marketed really well by their youth coach via photo's in the paper, local channel footage, mainland travel, Kam clinics, etc, etc,..---but on the down low is Sebi--works hard on the off season with his coach; no big story's in the paper; and a humble father with crazy b-ball skills who mentors him, plus the boy will grow to be 6'3 or 6'4 before he graduates and he'll keep his ball handling skills and b-ball IQ.. this will set him apart from all the rest, even his teammate fairmen..
..just a thought..

@Socrates, tru dat about Sebi, I think he has a great upside. Not only he will grow, but if you look at his dad and his skills, you know he will be trained well and improve each year.

I must agree, with u guys!
Sebi Ohara-Saft - has arguably the most potential/upside.
IQ, ball skills, shooter, Gene's and good attitude.
(after a jump shot made...he has the most enjoyable/humble smile "that's not taunting or cocky at all")Most of all: You can't teach SIZE!...and I think he'll possibly get to the next level either JC, D2 or NAIA.
But what do I know?

Lanaki has a good chance as well at the next level-
Hard worker, work eithic, ball skills, shooter, IQ and good leader at a young age.
He has great support and could play at the next level as well.Posted 2 years ago # -

@Luna
I would definitely give Sebi the top sophomore spot for the BIIF. Sometimes he can be shy and not shoot as much as he should, or pass off instead. But he has the ball handling that fairman doesnt have, but he also has enough size to play on a higher levelPosted 2 years ago # -
I'm glad to see Sebi getting a lot of respect from you guys...Seems like he gets overlooked a lot...I would say him and Thomas Fairman are the top 2 sophomores right now....Then Apele and Kagawa....
The only thing about Sebi is that he needs to work on blocking out...he's probably the worst rebounder i've seen in a while..
