Boys and Girls top 5 teams

Konawaena is at the top of girls. That's all i know.

For Boys, I don't have rankings yet.
But I'm sure Punahou, Kamehameha, and Iolani will all be coming back strong. Kam returns Micah Christensen and Chaz Bajet, two very talented starters. Iolani returns Tulonghari, Chu, Skalman, Arakawa, Scheer, Saito and more. Puns return Crabb, Cassiday, Feldman, Dowsett, McFadden, Buckner, Johnson, Josh Taylor.

Based on just returnees, I think Iolani will be #1, with Puns at #2 and Kam #3 in ILH.

In OIA, Moanalua should be better with Monroe coming back, and Kaimuki should be decent with Tautofi returning.

    What do you guys think?

Konawaena will be unstoppable! Now they know that they can house kids and there will be no infraction. I am thinking that they will run a boarding house (only for talented girls). Enough said!

As for boys, Punahou will be good. Malik and Deforest should improve a lot.

Iolani will return Chu and some other good players. We will need to see who's coaching next year.

Kam will always be competitive. In the OIA, Moanalua should be good. Kahuku and Kaimuki graduated a lot of players, so who knows...

Will the girls team for Mid-Pacific be any good next year. And also Farrington in the OIA and Lahainaluna in the MIL.

Mid Pacific may be looking for a new coach. Rumor has it that the parents are not happy, and they may want to go a new direction.

Hey hoop ever since when did parents begin to make decisions on who should be the coach or not. This doesn't make sense to me at all. Everybody thinks that because a team has a star player that they absolutely should win every game. It doesn't work that way. A coach's utmost duty is to first build character and then build a program. The winning will come eventually. It doesn't come over night. Consistency is the most important thing. Just my insight. No debate needed

Players returning will be a huge factor.
Coaching will make a big impact as well.

Nakanishi returns 5 including Christenson, Bajet
    Akina returns 7 Akina, Schwenke
Mugiishi returns 14 including Chu, Tulonghari
Grant returns 10 including Tautofi, Stienzel
Hale returns 8 including Crabb, Cassiday
Furtado returns 7 including Fernandez, Makaula
Tacon returns 12 including Monroe, Kauhola

These coaches/players combination have an advantage going into next season.

2Dhoop, does any of these teams have incoming freshmens that will be impact players? Or players coming up from the J.V. that will help.

Is Micah Christenson, Bob Christenson's son?

Iolani did bring up their JV starters after their season ended (PT against Kaimuki).

Bob is Micah's father and coach (basketball, volleyball and golf). BBJ's good friend. Great people and a wonderful family.

As far as rankings go, Iolani has to be #1 heading into next season. Even though they lose Warner, they still return most of their main threats including Chu, Scheer, Tulonghari, Skalman, among others. Plus if Saito can play the well that he played during the game against Kahuku it seems that he'll have a big impact.
Kamehameha loses a lot in Minns because of the fact that he was their leader and the main go-to scorer. It'll be interesting to see if Christenson will be able to create scoring for himself because teams won't be surprised by him anymore.
Punahou will also be returning a bunch of talent and will probably be at the top of the ILH along with Iolani. That junior class (along with Iolani's) just seems to be loaded and I have a feeling that there will be a major rebuilding year the year after next. It'll also be interesting to see if Dan Hale will be around to coach the Puns this coming year.

What bout Waiakea? They return Mitchel Shintani, Dakota Allen, and Chris Mattos. Those 3 were pretty much the whole team this year. Probable winners of the BIIF again.

Waiakea should definitely win the BIIF. Shintani is a solid player and should receive some recognition next year. Iolani has to be the clear-cut favorite to win. Double-digit returnees.

Good point basketballfan, double-digit returnees for Iolani and were on the cusp of making the state final to play against a Kamehameha team that they had beaten once in regular season and barely lost to the second time around.

Kamehameha will be solid with their returnees and an injection of players up from the JV that won the ILH JV Championship.

Punahou will be contending once again. They lose big time players but they also return a bunch of good basketball players. The question will be: Will the volleyball players (Crabb and Cassiday) play next year?

    My predicted order of finish:

    1. Iolani
    2. Kamehameha
    3. Punahou
    tie 4. St. Louis
    tie 4. Maryknoll
    tie 4. Damien
    tie 4. Mid Pac

The bottom 4 teams will be not even come close to the top 3. St. Louis and Mid Pac lose a whole bunch of players and have basically nothing left in the reserve tank. Damien has a new coach and will still be the same Damien team's of past, and Maryknoll, well, will be Maryknoll again.

what do you think the OIA will finish with next season?

Howzit PV...I think the OIA's will look something like this:

    1. Kaimuki
    2. Moanalua
    3. Kalaheo
    4. Kahuku

This is based purely on returnees that I know of. Kaimuki returns Tautofi and Steitzel, among others. Moanalua returns almost their whole team which includes Monroe. Kalaheo will have Fernandez back and Kahuku along with Akina and I believe Schwenke as well.

It will be basically the same suspects vying for their respective league and state titles. The fun part is trying to figure out which team(s) will be spoiling the party. Anyone want to throw out some sleepers, feel free!
