Does anybody know that the Kailua/Nanakuli game was called in the 3rd quarter last week when the benches and stands emptied onto the court?
Then both teams get to play their next game with no peenalties. How does that happen?
We all love the hoops and enjoy watching our faviorite teams go out and compete at their best. There is never room for teams, coaches and fans to allow behavior that does not belong on the court.
What should have been done? That's not for me to decide but does anyone else find this to be a really bad situation that the OIA just wants to sweep under the rug.
I would live to hear from someone who was there and knows if anything was done about it.

i know for a fact that the kailua/nanakuli rivalry burns deeeep. went to a kailua/nanakuli football game at kailua field 2 years ago and it got ugly on arrival. they clearly hate each other. beefs in the parking lot both students and adults. on the field both teams scrapped and it excalated to a huge free for all brawl blocking the exit and trapping everyone within the compound of the fight. frickin nuts man. yup kailua/nanakuli got a rivalry that burns deep. backpick you should have kalaheo fourth. we getting better and better. kailua belongs in d1 not d2.

Where does that rivalry come from?

I haven't heard about the Kailua/Nanakuli incident. Very unfortunate if that is the case. Were there any punches thrown? Was it just the fans that were rowdy or were there players involved? I believe all of this information has to be gathered before anyone decides what type of punishment needs to be doled out.

I think to solve this mess, they should not allow ANY fans at any games where these two schools are competing against each other.

It was enougth of who knows what to call the game. You don't call games unless there is something bad going on. Punches don't have to be thrown for a game to get out of hand.

Talked about it with Kailua assistant coach McGivern (whom helped asst Maryknoll a few seasons ago) on Saturday and he just laughed it off saying that both benches cleared as a scuffle started on the court, and that both he and Coach Harrison quickly seperated their players but, both the Kailua crowd and Nanakuli crowd was verbally abussive throughout the game and during the aftermath of the game. Reffs have to step it up as tensions grow throughout a high school sporting event and maintain control at all times.I also attended that football game at Kailua field, the fight was ugly and did block the exit but, it was players fighting not students and parents, and again tensions flared up throughout that game as well. That scrap ended that game early as well. The fight went on till more police arrived.

From what I understand Kailua is going to have to forfeit a game. Not sure if this is accurate yet. Once a player leaves the bench he is suspended 1 game. I don't believe that they have played a game since that incident. I think they had a bye over the weekend. Nanakuli has tried to start many fights this year. I have talked to a couple of people that have said this. I am sure the league is going to get all the facts straight, but from what I heard from a Kailua coach is that they may have to forfeit the next game. If anyone knows anymore to this please post. I hope they don't start crap with my PC boys.

Found out the truth now. The video evidence didn't show the players from the bench on the court. SO nobody is being suspended. Kailua was worried about it but the video only had the fight and not the bench.

Good Job XMan, it's almost impossible to control a crazed crowd, but it's good to hear that Coaches had control of their kids. Did the Kailua Coaches feel the calling of the game was unessesary or premature?
