Jus' an observation after attending over forty years of bball games. There was and are some referees that call the game as it should be called, but I also personally witnessed games that were shockingly officiated by referees that thought that by donning the striped black n' whites, they now transformed into "do no wrong" & "call no wrong" GODS. The arogance some of these younger refs now carry onto the courts is just surprisingly egocentric. True, most refs are human, & do make mistakes, with an occassional bad or missed call, & try to inconspicuously correct it quickly by making a minor make-up call as soon as possible. We all seen it done many of times, & just laughed it off. But there are also some refs who would reverse a call from their obstructed or distant view, especially when the game is on the line, just to create unnecessary controversy with the player's, the coaches, and the fans. I've seen Ramone personally harrass and humiliate one player throughout the entire game with verbal warnings, called fouls, and pulling the older teenage player by his jersey to talk with the coach on the bench, because the player's composed father earlier questioned a minor call that was made by him (Ramone), with no explanation given, besides walking up to the bleachers & arogantly repeating the foul call directly to the father of that player, then snobbishly turning back around onto the court. I sometimes wonder why a person would want to be a referee? Is it for the purpose of having an athletic event, game, or contest judged & played fairly? Is it to uphold & police all the rules & regulations of an athletic event, game, or contest fairly? Could it be to make sure that you can lend a helping (dishonest) hand to sway or change the predicted results of an athletic event, game, or contest, for the unfair advantage of a certain team(s). Or could it be for the sole purpose of vengence (revenge) and getting back at athletes, coaches, and possibly schools, because possibly they felt that they were treated unfairly by always sitting on the end of the bench in high school, or possibly they felt that they were unfairly cut from the team sport tryouts, and they had this lifetime mission to payback all of those who get to play or coach the sport by being the referee that officiates the game with the final say of who gets to win unfairly, or lose by the same token? Lastly, do they become official referees to fuel their false egos or covet their insecurities by becoming someone of authority & power, who can call the shots at their very own discretion with no consequences right or wrong, fair or unfair, honest or dishonest? Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Think and wonder of this when you watch an oppressive or arogant (bad) referee in action. Poor sad, sad sole. Jus' my opinions & observations. You never know?
