I'm looking for the guys who may do damage coming in to this year that will contribute to their team and isn't the first one heard of when looking at their teams.

Punahou,Kam,Mid Pac,Iolani,St Louis and so forth

who will be the unknown heros to come out this year and surprise everyone?

Two kids come to mind. Kainoa Chu (KBB) and Malik Johnson (Honolulu Sharks) will be studs for Iolani and Punahou.

Sharks team is loaded, looks like a farm team for Punahou and KBB is young, they look like a farm team for Iolani.

Iolani has a three headed monster lurking this season in the form of young KBB stars Andrew Skalman, Trevor Tolonghari and Kainoa Chu. They make a dynamic trio when put on the court together.

Who are Iolani's basketball players that just came off of football? Are any of them contributors? I know of Punahou's 3. I still think Manti's decision to play basketball is suspect...Hillard and Toma have college ball on the line, Manti has the NFL on the line.

Punahou Footbal players: Manti Teo, Roby Toma, Dalton Hilliard, Kimo Makaula, Kainoa Gaddis, Shane Yoshiyama, Sean McFadden

Iolani Football players: Kela Marciel, Brandon Ball, Trevyn Tulonghari, Andrew Skalman, Jarrett Arakawa

    Those are the returnees.

Thanks ILHFan...wow, that's a lot of boys coming off of football. These kids will be rolling into games with 2 days of practice under their belt.

But some of these guys will be playing in all-star bowls this weekend. Manti Teo, Dalton Hilliard, Roby Toma, Kimo Makaula, and Kela Marciel will be representing the Hawaii team in the Hawaii vs. Mainland bowl. Good luck to them!

True...these kids do get in the gym year round, that's always what keeps them from getting stale. Marciel will miss the Hilo tournament I assume...it runs Wednesday thru Saturday.

Marciel will be missing the tourney due to football.

Andrew Skalman will be the guy running the show. Andrew was a freshman when Iolani last went to the big island and two years later is now the Raiders best point guard. He is a very smart and savvy basketball player with very good handles and has a very high basketball IQ. I think he will make a noticeable impact in the big island.

After this preseason I must admit that I really like the game of Iolani's Kainoa Chu, Trevin Tolonghari and Kamehameha's Micah Christianson. Iolani and Kamehameha both have really good teams this early in the season.

Agreed, those three have been pretty fantastic in the preseason.
They all contribute significantly to each game, especially offensively because they all can shoot the 3, and they all are very athletic

What's even more exciting is how young these three are:

    Kainoa Chu, jr.
    Micah Christenson, soph.
    Trevin Tolonghari, soph.
