2007-08 ILH Basketball: Boys & Girls Schedules

The schedules have been posted for the 2007-08 ILH Boys & Girls Regular Seasons. Find them by clicking the “Schedules” tab along the top bar or click here.

    Interesting Notes for the Boys:
    ILH Basketball
  • Season Opener - Iolani vs. Punahou - Tough first matchup for these two teams. Iolani is traveling this Christmas so it’ll be interesting to see if this affects their play since they will likely return just days before the game. As for Punahou, if Steinhoff is able to return at all it’s pretty unlikely that he’ll make it back by the first game.
  • St. Louis’ 1st tough game on Jan 10th - The Saints lucked out by getting an extra week before playing their first tough game especially since they’re in the drivers seat to make it to the state tournament in football which will likely keep key players and their head coach from making consistent appearances until mid-December. Iolani is in a similar position football-wise (in Division II) but weren’t quite as fortunate with the schedule.
  • Good or Bad? - St. Louis plays Punahou twice before playing Iolani once while Iolani plays MPI twice before facing the Saints once.
  • Ridiculous Stretch of Games from Jan 19th - Look at that run of games… WOW! Punahou plays St. Louis, Iolani, Kamehameha and a dangerous MPI team all in just 8 days. Iolani faces MPI, Punahou, and St. Louis in a 6 day stretch. On Jan 24th, Iolani plays St. Louis and Punahou plays Kamehameha then, the next day, Kamehameha faces St. Louis. Again…Wow.

    Interesting Notes for the Girls:

  • 5 teams & 3 rounds - With this few teams, tough games come quickly.
  • ILH Opener at Neal Blaisdell - The ILH season opener features Iolani against Sacred Hearts on December 21st at Neal Blaisdell Center.
  • Kamehameha’s New Year - They could be really happy or really sad going into 2008 after facing Iolani and Punahou two days apart in the last week of December.
  • Iolani Back-to-Back - The Raiders have a similar stretch in mid-January when they face Kamehameha and Punahou two days apart.
    Cool Note:

  • Kamehameha vs. Punahou - It hasn’t happened in past seasons, so it’ll be fun to see two of the top boys and girls teams face each other on the same night when they play one after another at Punahou on Jan 24th.

Overall Thoughts:
Despite some rough stretches, the ILH schedulers conquered the tough task of managing gym space and teams needs pretty well. It’ll be fun to see how things play out this season as teams on both the boys and girls sides will be faced with shortened practice times (due to the lack of gym space) and a number of overworked and, in some cases inexperienced, referees.

Great post HH…this upcoming ILH season will be one of the most tightest races in recent memory. Prior to Steinhoff’s injury I would have placed Punahou at the top of the list. Not having Steinhoff at 100% will definitely change the makeup of Punahou’s team. Still, though, they have quite a few other weapons…

    My preseason ranking:
    1. Punahou
    2. St.Louis
    3. Iolani/Kamehameha
    5. Mid Pac
    6. Maryknoll
    7. Damien
