Hawaii Basketball: The Best Dunk on Film?

Two great dunks caught on film… but which one was better? (Leave comments below.)

2008 ILH Dunk

A. February 28, 2003 - State Tournament Semifinals: Kamehameha vs. Iolani - Derrick Low (Iolani ‘04) on Waika Spencer (Kamehameha ‘05).

Both dunks were pretty impressive, but I will have to go with D-Low’s postering of Waika Spencer in the state tournament for several reasons:

    1. Happens in a state tourney; bigger stage, bigger audience.
    2. 6′0 dunking over 6′5 (as opposed to 6′6 dunking over 6′1).
    3. Junior postering a Senior (as opposed to a senior postering a junior).

The only thing that I have Crabbe’s dunk over Low’s is Crabbe’s balls all up in Warner’s face. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Sorry about the mistake on #2, Low is a junior dunking on Spencer who was a sophomore at the time.

Anyway, the look on Waika’s face is classic.

Sorry mistake on #2 regarding the ages.

Low is a junior and Waika is a sophomore when that pic was taken.

I was actually at both games! I would say Low’s was better. 6′1″ over a 6′5″ guy, granted Spencer was coming over from the help side. Low’s dunk was also cleaner than Crabb’s. also in state semi when game was still on the line.

Crabb had a nice dunk in the state championship.

    Low hands down.

I’ve heard quite a few people comment that his dunk was one of the best they’ve ever seen in a real game (not on TV).

I was there when Low dunked on all of Kamehameha and when he landed the whole place went nuts. The part that got me is that people in crowd actually got injured cheering. My boy who had various knee surgeries before had his knee lock up and had to be carried out and taken to the emergency room after the game. So Low dunked so hard that even people in the crowd were not safe. True story.
