Tristan Sealy: The Best in the State?

SealyHe’s 6-3, can score at will and averages 25 points per game, so why doesn’t anyone know Tristan Sealy (shown, Midweek photo)? Well…

Maybe its because he plays for little-known Myron B. Thompson Academy, an online school who, prior to this season, hadn’t won a game in conference. In 2004, the Thompson Sharks made their OIA East debut against the McKinley Tigers, losing 86-24 in a blowout that was decided by halftime when the Tigers led 53-10.

This season, with Sealy’s help, the Sharks beat the McKinley Tigers 59-54 as he scored 34 points on wide range of jumpers and dished to teammates for several other easy buckets. Two nights later, Sealy nearly outscored the entire Nanakuli Hawks team on his own dropping 36 points in a 59-36 win. For his performances, Sealy was named the KHON2 Athlete of the Week on January 10th.

Through 9 games this season, Thompson is 4-5 and in the middle of the pack of the newly created OIA White Division and are hoping to earn one of three berths to the inaugural Division II State Basketball tournament in late February.
